Who makes the best grease gun?

The Lock N Lube tip is preet sweet. I put it on the end of a 36" hose so I can hook it up and then pump where there is plenty of room.

Hiya,

If you get a lock N' lube, put a small, 1 or 2 inch threaded section of pipe between it and the hose, it will make squeezing the lever between your thumb and fingers much easier when there is pressure on the fitting as the hose end tends to flex too much.

Lincoln 14V for me. I bought mine at about the same time this thread was started, and it and the batteries are still going strong. I tend to grease things more often than necessary because it's so darn easy with a good gun.

I have two now retired Lincoln electric guns. I can imagine they are a benefit if you lube so many zeros at once that your hand gets tired but frankly the hassle of charging and maintenance on batteries just wasn't worth it for me. The simple lever style Lincoln manual gun with lock N lube is more efficient for doing a single tractor BH and FEL.

I was thinking about one for a seperate location. I wondered about battery. I can't believe $200 for a grease gun. Not sure if those were bare tool or not. I would look at what ever brand of cordless tools I already had.

For my price range, maybe a better manual one.

I had to have a better solution. Greasing an excavator, dozer, and tractor every 10hrs got really old, and during hay season keeping the balers and mowers greased is pretty time consuming. Charging the batteries is simple, and I just switch them out on every other cartrige. Like I mentioned it actually has made me grease things more often because it's so easy with an electric gun.

If I were doing that much greasing I might well change my mind. Most of us here are maintaining one tractor with an average of 50-100hrs of operation per year.

It's easy to fall for the latest greatest gismo (I did) but when it comes right down to it, spending ten minutes with a grease gun and actually pumping the thing about 50 times to grease a typical tractor and FEL is just not enough work to go through the expense and hassle of a cordless grease gun. Remember too that batteries wear out and cost about $75 each to replace.

Not good for my artyrightus. So I use my electric gun for my stuff.

That's another valid reason that I don't happen to have. I do suffer from lazyitis which was my original excuse but it turns out that there was more fussing with the cordless than with a manual version so I kicked the habit.

What was the fus Gus? I can do the FEL in record time now. Have some fittings on the Ventrac that the lock n lube will not work on so I go with the ole Manual one.
