Who makes the best grease gun?

Those of you who are using 10's of pounds of grease each month - isn't there a bulk tank that can feed the grease gun directly? Like a 5 gallon bucket of grease that can be pressurized?

Yes there is. A pump set-up that goes on a bucket of grease that can fill your grease gun is available. It can cheaper too do so, but the outfit I work for buy there grease by the case of tubes, pallet at a time. With the tubes, every one can keep there own supply right on there machine.

I have a secure spot in the cab to keep the gun and grease tubes safe from loss or destruction. Plus when in the winter, the gun and grease are warm, easy to pump after 8-10 hours of being in the cab.

Keeping a few tubes warm at a time for greasing is easier and more portable than Keeping a five gallon pail of grease pumpable and portable.

In my own operations I would be lucky to go threw five pounds of grease a year counting vehicles and farm machinery:D

We use these at work. A five gallon bucket of grease with a lid with a pnuematic pump bolted to it. Portable and handy it is not. The idea of cordless grease gun is to move a 3 pound grease gun to a several thousand piece of equipment and not to move a several thousand piece of equipment to a three pound grease gun.

I know of several larger companies that use it by the 55 gallon drum. Each bay has a drop down air, grease, and oil line. Works quite well but for most here a simple grease gun and tube makes the most sense.

I have the Lincoln air gun. It's great, years of of use without problem. Never had a zerk that gave problems over a second or 2.

Had the harbor freight grease gun. Worked great for 2 tubes, then converted to non-working junk. What a surprise...

I use tubes but I was told that you can stick the grease gun into a bucket of grease and pull the plunger back to draw grease into the gun. I go through a couple tubes a week this time of year and have thought about going bulk.

What a great post! I used to work at the old fashioned REAL service stations way back, and we had the huge barrels of grease connected to air pressure tank. I miss those things, but like someone said - move a light grease gun to heavy equipment, etc. Anyway, I definitely need to get something good, so appreciate this thread! I am going to check out the Lincoln, and some of the better hand operated guns...

Just be careful you don't get any dirt into the bucket of grease. It'll clog up the gun or the fitting. Some people are very good about it while some people, no matter how hard they try, just can't keep a bucket of grease dirt free (me as a kid ).

Thats why you use a bucket loader to fill the gun:D
