When is your last grass mowing of the season?

The mowing season never ends around here and I fully expect to be mowing into the second week of November and maybe longer. When I lived in New England, things wrapped up in September. How late do you mow?

I have been in the lawn care business here in South Louisiana for 13 years. In general, we mow weekly from April through October. We go to every other week in November, then once a month in December, January and February.....and back to every other week in March...

It works out to about 43 cuts a year.

I'll probably be done in November. It's been a very dry summer, so mowing has been minimal, but with Hurricane Patricia dumping so much water on us, I'm sure that I'll have to mow a few times to get it under control.

I am very likely done for the season.

I have a lot of leaves, so I mow and mulch maybe once a month until all the leaves are pretty much gone. Our grass doesn't start growing again until late April or later, but I like to mow once more in January, and set my mower a half inch lower, same in February, march and April. That way I effectively "Scalp" my yard in increments, mulch the scalpings and don't have a big mess in April with all the dead grass on the yard to blow and track into the house...besides, I think the longer grass helps protect against freeze damage during January and February.

We mow through at least mid November. Mostly just bagging a lot of leaves right now. Come March/April.......will start mowing again. We get lots of rain......come Spring......sometimes mow twice a week.

How much rain are you supposed to get out of the hurricane? I see that some areas are expecting 20"+.

From Friday morning until this morning, we received 6 1/2 inches. Today it's been steady, but nothing heavy so far. Corsicana is about an hour to the East of us and they received somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 inches in that same period, plus they have been getting heavy rain this morning to add to the flooding. Predictions for us are over ten inches for the total, but nobody has any idea what will happen, or how bad it can get.
