Seeing if I got a good deal and first time owner

I have been looking at tractors for a month or so. I went to to the ag expo yesterday and ended up buying a ck3510h with a grapple, rear hyd. dealer installed,6ft jbar box blade and loader for 20,500 otd. Is that a pretty decent deal? I wont pick it up till sat. Any advice on break in or anything I need to watch out for? Thanks

Congratulations on the new tractor! Can't comment on current market pricing, but I can predict that after you've used your tractor for a few months, whatever you paid will be a distant memory and seem well worth it.

I agree with Threepoint, no use worrying about whether you got a deal or not, after you have already purchased it.
If you were happy when you signed on the dotted line, that,s all that matters.
Hope you have many years of trouble free great times with it.

Nice pick up. My advice is to take it out to a clear area so you can't do any damage, and try everything out nice and slow. It will get quicker as you work it more. Check all the bolts and nuts, fluid levels, go over the tractor with the manual so you know where all the controls and maintenance points are.

On price, I paid $19500 plus 6% tax ($20670) out the door, adding in 3.67% for 60 months on top of that (~$22500), for my 2013 CK35HST w/ FEL. I'd say you paid below average, considering the CK10 runs about a grand more, and you got a grapple and BB.

Between Threepoint & BleedingOrange - I think you have the best answer ever.

If you were happy when you bought it - it's a good price and after you've used it some you'll love it so much it won't matter anyway.

That being said - Dad & I bought a CK35 last Sept and factoring average prices for the extras / attachments you got with yours I'd say you got a pretty good / fair deal for your money.

As for the owning / operating portion:
- like TJP89 said - start slow, speed comes with time & experience
- keep everything greased / lubed
- keep the box blade on the rear when you're doing any loader / grapple work. These loaders don't compare to the "big boys" but they are strong enough to get the rear wheels off the ground if you're not careful
- never lift the loader any higher than you need to for what you are trying to do (esp if it's loaded with anything / and or when traveling) as it raises your overall center of gravity.
- and lastly, be honest with yourself and your skill / comfort level and don't get in over your head.

Side Note - I spent a year or so at Mercer U there in Macon. Some pretty country once you got off campus and out of town.

Make sure you understand the procedure for regen. If followed properly, it only takes 5-15 minutes and will not keep you from working while in the process. If you have hills, I would ask the dealer to load the rears for the safety factor. And last but not least, have fun...but don't let the wife see you smiling while you "work"

Thanks for the info. I already have a problem. While driving it the CEL comes on and the engine stumbles but doesn't shut off. If you park the tractor for 5 or 10 min the light goes off but comes back on when you drive it again. It only has 2.5 hrs

What's the CEL? I assume it's a tier 4 thing, 'cause I don't recall that abbreviation.

Ahh, I don't have one on my older CK. Sounds like a fuel issue under load. I'd talk to your dealer unless you're really mechanically inclined. A check engine light can mean almost anything.
