Folk's; it's all a Government Conspiracy. Sell more Fords! Early exit from the working world and above average mechanical issues means greater employment!!

And with their great fuel mileage Big Oil surely wants to limit their time on the road!

LOL...it's true!! I love all the comments ragging engineers and talking about planned obsolescence and parts made to fail. Cars last much longer than they used to, with a lot more features and power than they used to have. Sure, everyone's uncle billy had a 1978 GMC truck that ran to pret-near 500,000 miles, but overall, the new vehicles last longer. Higher cylinder pressure, turbos, superchargers, etc...all make more power and produce more wear. I, for one, think it is pretty impressive the power and reliability that they can get out of vehicles these days. There are always setbacks when a new engine is introduced, or the EPA bans something else, but the vehicle makers always overcome the issues and out comes another fine machine.

I drive a 2011 Chevy 1500, and had a 2007 Duramax 2500 before that. I love both of these trucks. The duramax had amazing power and you couldn't even tell the car trailer was back there. The newer 1500 has so many creature comforts I am not sure it is even a truck anymore, until I put a ton of coal in the bed! The 1500 has more than enough power/capacity for what I do these days, but the diesel was more fun to drive. I do all my own work when possible, and I sure like how simple the 5.3L engine in the 1500 is. Love me some pushrods...

Yeah, I am a GM guy, but only because I have "played" with a lot of GM vehicles and am more comfortable with them. I would drive one of the new Fords without thinking twice about it...they are sharp and make a ton of power.

I had chrysler buy back my 2014 ram 2500 with the Cummins. Front crank shaft seal leaked. Dealer fixed it 4 times. Still leaked. I think its the luck of the draw today. You mite get a good one which ever brand you pick or you mite get a bad one.

Do they pay you full price on those buy backs?

Well the Chevy 292 inline 6 and the ford 300 inline 6 were killed because they were 300-500,000 mile motors , tell me how good the v-6 is when they don't do 150,000

Chevy made the junk 4.3l v6 from the basic castings of the 350 v8 with the purpose of being a bottom of the barrel budget engine option for those who couldn't afford a purpose design engine. Very low horsepower, bad vibrations,etc... What GM succeeded in, was a near zero r&d bill for that platapus. Years later, instead of burying it, they made small incremental fixes/improvements.

The straight 6's were purpose built...That makes a big difference in performance.

The GM LS engines are good for 350,000 miles minimum. The newer engines are just as good as those old ones, more reliable too.

The only I6 thst id love to own is the latest version of the Jeep 4.0.

Love my 300 straight 6. Only problem is its from 1979 and was abused. Currently not running

Williamsbos,
Yes I got everything back. Pretty much I drove the truck for a year for free minus fuel and oil change. I got my downpayment back, loan payment back , and my lawyer also got me my accessories back. Took truck to dealer they check it over and then hand you a check
