We see them occasionally here, but we hear them quite a bit. They killed an adult Labrador retriever and gutted it a year or so ago. Alone, they can be tough, but in a pack they are nearly indestructible when they want to attack something. Besides the obvious deer, they get to sheep, and an occasional calf around here. But those stories don't make the news compared to when they grab a dog or cat and run off with it.
Any one have coyote problems?

We have a lot of deer, turkey and squirrel here, but I rarely see a coyote any more, and when I do, it's roadkill. It seems strange, but 30 years ago, they seemed to be everywhere...they would sing us to sleep at night. The increase in turkey and deer is a phenomenon that has taken place over the last 20 or so years.

I really should have not watched that right before bed. That was awesome but we have always had some behind our house and I have a while imagination.
We used to have a really bad problem with the horses at night. One winter blizzard a pack chased our prize barrel horse through the fence out to the road and a lady was speeding ridiculous fast and locked her brakes up on ice. Horse had to be shot in the morning from multiple broken legs and I think the car was totaled. Lady went for legal action but nothing happened because she was speeding and not using caution during a blizzard and the horse was chased forcefully through fence by coyotes. I think that same winter or before that they chased a goat up into a barn less then 10ft from the house, the goat climbed into a bunch of stuff and still got killed. They just killed the goat nothing now. Still remember as a kid riding in the loader as the goat was on the sled getting towed by the tractor out to throw the goat in the woods. They killed our best horse and goat.
Another story that has gone through the family is that my great uncle when he went coyote hunting chased one 5 miles and across the highway with his dogs. I don't know if he killed it or not.

Where in Oklahoma are you located? I'm just 10 miles south of Tecumseh, and it seems I'm being over run with coyotes. I hear them every morning and evening, and see them in broad daylight on the property on occasion. Every time I check the cameras, I have coyotes (and sometimes bobcat).

There are many coyotes here. At least three packs and the only harm they do is to the ranchers spring calves. He will most always loose one or two calves every spring. Otherwise, they will cull the old, disabled deer, the occasional spring fawn and even a turkey, now and then. They are a part of the balance of nature. I just wish they would come in a little closer and take some of the many pocket gophers that tear up my yard. Gopher trapping is such a PITA.

We have Wolves up at the cottage near Algonquin Park. We rarely hear coyotes, but I'm sure they are there.
Both animals are very shy with respect to humans. We just don't see them much at all. However, the locals complain that the deer population is down, and of course they blame the Wolves.

Between Edmond and Guthrie. We have a lake about 1/8 from us, and we used to hear them every night, but not any more. We have been here 40 years, and there has been significant development here. I assume that, along with the lack of hunting is responsible for the increase of turkey and deer, but can't figure why we don't see any coyotes any more. I have seen fox, horses, quail, deer, turkey, racoon, feral cats...you name it in the yard, but never a coyote. Just as well, though. We used to use the walking paths in one of the Edmond parks, and have seen bobcats there also.
Have a friend who lives in rural Maysville, and he said he has to bring his dogs in at night lest the coyotes will kill them. Don't remember having to do that.
