Here is a simple and cheap 9 volt regulator that you could put that 14 volt battery voltage into and get 9 volts out to run the electronics. This is based on the simple LM7809 three legged regulator chip. Just an idea.

Looking at this one, I'd have the same question as one of the reviews: Which end is IN, and which end is OUT ?

The left end with the diode bridge is the input

I ended up ordering some of these:

In/out clearly marked, and I like the fact they are in a weather proof case instead of everything open.

Nothing wrong with that idea.

I didn't realize there were so many cheap voltage regulators so readily available. I used to build things I needed like this, but I don't think I could source the parts and breadboard it for what they will ship you some of these things for.

I couldnt' believe how cheap these little DC voltmeters were on Amazon. I put one in my Kioti's dash. Love it.
