Glad you were able to help and got some fun seat time.
I recently put a new stereo in my F-150. Pulled the tractor out of the garage to make enough room to pull the front of the truck into it so I'd have light since it's getting darker earlier these days. Fiddled around with the stereo install for a couple hours or more, not thinking much about the fact I left my truck door open on driver's side the whole time. Guess what; dead battery.
Garage has single door, so no way to get another car close for jumping. Tractor was outside, so I couldn't jump off of it. I don't have a charger other than my motorcycle batter charger. Oh no.
Got wife to come out to truck and sit inside with key on and put it in neutral so she could gently steer as I was in on a little angle. Hooked tow strap to Reese and to my FEL hooks on the little BX. Was actually a little worried because my parking pad that leads to the garage is on a down hill slope to the garage, so I'd be pulling the truck uphill. Put BX in 4X4 Low range. Didn't know what to expect, but my tractor pulled it out without any issues. That's one time I would have rather had my L3800 though for the extra weight, but was glad it worked because I wasn't about to hook my Fusion or my daughter's Accord up to it.

Although slow, the bike charger would have gotten the job done. I once boosted a VW Rabbit using cables made from a 16gauge extension cord... It took a while but it worked. (Technically I guess I charged the battery, rather than boosting it.)

How old is your truck? My '02 Dakota has a timer on the dome light so it'll shut off after 15 min. or so even if the door's open.

After MANY years I've finally convinced UPS & FedEx to leave packages at the gate at the beginning of my driveway in the winter. Many years ago there was a knock at my door in the early evening. It was the "big brown" driver and his truck was stuck in the driveway. He got tangled up in a snow berm on one side of the driveway. Luckily, I was able to squeeze by with the tractor and pull him out.
And, NO, I do not plow the driveway wider in the winter because of this incident - they leave packages at the gate instead.

I'm not sure how much those actually save your battery though. You still have juice running the relay. I know that on my Chevy it will turn back on after a while, and on a previous truck I still killed the battery overnight.
NOT going to answer about the boost.
