With the weather change I need to run ours at the house. The one in the motorhome still is not getting spark at the plugs and I have not put on new house batteries but I did turn it over last week enough to bring up the oil pressure a few times. I ran the engine for an hour and shifted the transmission from P/R/N/D with the transmission temp getting up to 150F degrees. The dash air and heat worked as well as all of the vacuum air duct controls which is pretty good for 1992 Chevy chassis. Maybe next year I will figure out the spark problem. It ran fine before and after replacing the spark plugs a couple years ago. Not a lot of room to work but I hope I find a wire that grounded out somewhere. Having been working to greatly cut my cancer and heart attack risk by getting my way of eating correctly is helping with my motivation to fix stuff. Cutting my pain levels from a 'normal' 7-8 level to 2-3 in 30 days after getting off all grains and most all sugars Oct 2014 enabled me to just say NO to starting Enbrel injections and that cancer risk. Since I had started studying cancer prevention/cures expecting to start taking Enbrel I have continued that and have actually implemented two protocols that are based on research out of Europe and Japan but not blessed by the AMA in the states but this is off subject in this thread.

Speaking of generators I found a new grower of Bermuda hay yesterday that still had some left from this season and bought enough to last to next fall. I learned he would deliver for $1 a bale and put it in the hayloft. It would be a 80 mile round trip and paying the son's friend $40 so I decided to pay $150 to not to have to get the old truck out and work my butt off as well. It is awesome hay at $5 a bale. He said it texted at 12% plus in the barn it is still green and smells very good. My normal source sold out last week so I was excited to fine this relatively nearby this time. Since there is no power at the old barn he will bring his generator to power his hay elevator. :)

Health first Gale....... gens can always be fixed later ! Be well.

Right now I have 4 gasoline gen-sets that won't run... they will start with a whiff of starting fluid... all were solid and dependable. Guess the fuel got to them... one Honda and 3 others. When I bought my first one in 1990 the Honda shop said to always keep the tank full to minimize moister problems and tank rust...
I always keep my Honda topped off. Besides the moisture issue, who wants to fill the tank in the dark? 🌚

Thanks Dave. After losing a friend this year to pancreatic cancer it drove your point home. He needed to sell his MH that had been parked for a few years due to health. The son and I worked very hard to get the generator to run after it being parked for years. What we drained out of the gen carb and fuel pump looked like cherry syrup.

After keeping it running with a few cans of carb cleaner it would keep running so so. Over time we got it to the point where the MH was showable with the gen running without removing the carb. Getting the motorhome cleaned up and sold really took a load off of his mind but the chemo was getting the best of him. He lasted another six months.

His death was a hard on everyone watching as well. That was when I decided to master an understanding of cancer and how to prevent it in myself and family as much as possible and treat it successful if it developed by using protocols from around the world that can be put together with items from eBay or Amazon. Google was my key tool to gather info but I did buy some medical text books. Cancer as a Metabolic Disease: On the Origin, Management, and Prevention of Cancer by Thomas Seyfried was my starting point on learning the nature of the beast and its prevention/cure possibilities.

My friend's wife is moving on OK. She still is thankful we helped them by getting the MH saleable. There are a lot we all can do to help other MH owners in times like these. Their MH had been a concern to me for the prior two years but I hated to offer to help with it not knowing how it would be taken. My son did the hard part of getting it cleaned up. Thankfully we were able to recover both the engine and house batteries to the point both the engine and generator would start just fine. It was short 2005 Ford based MH with 13k miles. He was going to retire in a couple years and travel the USA.

I'd like to extend my condolences on your friend's passing, and well wishes for your continued health improvements.

I've learned a lot from a good friend of mine, who embodies carpe diem better than anybody else I've ever met.

In the big picture, Generator Maintenance is a small thing...... but this discipline of maintenance can also be viewed as a metaphor for dealing with other, and bigger, issues in life..... IMO.

Nick it sounds like you are good to go. Was your area hit bad when SC had all of the flooding?

Quite a bit of rain but no significant problems out our way, thank goodness. Since I've been using the 1025r for mowing, we haven't even had that much turnover in the gas stockpile (may have to start burning it in the truck...).

Stabil/Startron - nice combo.

Good to hear that the floods missed you.

Noticed the same thing when I went with the Kubota Diesel. I know turnover the fuel into the SUV regularly so that no gas is older than 1 yr., and of course, it is treated with ethanol protecting Stabil.
