4K TV's or not

Tom,

We got the 40" U6500 series and the picture upgrade from our 8 year old 32" Sony flat screen to this unit was amazing - better picture, better video, sharper and for reference our chairs are 9-10' from the 40" screen. The upgrade is the U7100 series and the results are noted here.

Samsung UN60JU6500 vs Samsung UN60JU7100 Review

Did you buy it online or local?

Well, my search is over. I bought a 60" Samsung 4K at Sams for $1,278. Great deal and an awesome picture.

Nice. Which model?

appears to be this one - Smart TV - UN60JS700D - very little difference that I can see to the UN60JU650DFXZA which is $200 more

I will say that Samsung's model numbering is confusing, but I do think they offer good value and decent price. I bought the 55" 6500, and while I was at it a 48" 6500 for the bedroom. Having smart TVs is going to be a treat.

Alrighty ...

Just did my Black Friday shopping ONLINE :)

Picked up the Samsung 75" 4K un75ju641D (same as un75ju6500) for $2400.

My wife just bought Samsung 6700 Ultra 4k TV. Have to say we are disappointed with picture quality. It replaced smaller four years old Samsung that had excellent picture in comparison. The picture of new TV is blurry and pixelated, fast motion has a "tail", horizontal stripes (in example park bench) shimmer. We called Samsung support and were told to replace HDMI cable. HDMI is digital so it either works or it doesn't work. I need to research it but it looks like we will return the TV and spend the money for something we actually need.

What signal are you sending to the tv? 480, 720, 1080, or 4k? A lower quality signal will look worse on the larger tv. For example dvd's look ok on my 65" plasma. If I'm watching on our 110" projector they look awful. Have to jump to blueray.
