Thanks for all the replies & opinions

I was able to get out and have a look at a few tractors on the weekend. Looked at TYM TS25 which I think is a bit small. Branson 2900h which I liked and it felt a nice size. Also looked at the Kioti CK3010 which was the pick of the bunch as it has higher weight, higher lift capacity & a few other features the others didn't. Going to look at a Kubota B3150 tomorrow and I might have another look at the L series to while I'm there. The JD dealer finally rang me back after a week of trying to get hold of them and will send through pricing on a 3036E, although I have a feeling it's going to be way out of my range.

Will hopefully make a purchase later this week :tractor::dance1:

My guess is the JD 3038E price will be competitive, but spec wise it can't stand up to the Kioti. The B is a step down, look at the L series for Kubota.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the L series while I'm at the Kubota dealer today. They quoted me on a L3800 but it's $10k out of my price range. Might ask about the L3200 as that will do the job. As for JD, heard nothing from the dealer yet for pricing so I've pretty much crossed them off the list just because the service has been so poor.

I saw you mention a Kubota B3030 in your original post. I just picked up my first tractor this past weekend. I found a 2006 B3030 with a L403 FEL, BH76, Ballast Box with 400#s of weights and a commercial plug aerator for $18K. It only has 241 hours and is in like new condition. I had been looking around for over a year and as tough as it was to hold off on a couple...I ended up finding exactly what I was looking for.

Obviously I don't know what the used market is down your way, but you just might find a larger used tractor with everything you want within your budget. They're out there!!!

I agree with BigBoyToys, they are out there. I looked for over a year at used because I didn't think I could afford new, the truth was just the opposite in my case. I'd have to borrow the money for a used one where the Mahindra dealer had killer financing and a good price. I did see many B and BX Kubies with fairly low hours for sale within 50 miles of home. Some bigger tractors with loaders but with higher hours (some looked downright sad being obviously worked to just above junk status). Your local market may differ and be different at other times of the year.

I've been looking at used tractors for a while now and nothing has really come up. I could have bought a mid 90's Kubota with low hours for about $18-20k but I don't see the point when I can get brand new for not much more.

Anyway, I put a deposit down on a Kioti CK30 yesterday. Amazing the difference in price between two dealers of the same product. One dealer quoted me $25,990 for tractor and FEL with no other implements. Dealer I purchased off I got tractor, FEL, 5ft box blade, single tyne ripper with pipe layer, post hole digger with 2 augers and a sun canopy for $25,950. So pretty happy with that. Only difference is the dealer I purchased from didn't have it in stock so I have to wait a week or two to get it.

Thanks for all the advice and opinions. I'm now looking forward to getting my new toy and getting stuck into some work.

That sounds like a GREAT deal!
That should be a good size tractor for you.
Good luck with it and don't forget to post the "Tractor ****" when it arrives!

Thought I would give an update on my recent purchase of my Kioti CK3010.

I had to wait a little longer than I hoped to get the tractor but have now had it for about 4 weeks. In the 16 or so hours I've been on it I've managed to move about 15 ton of dirt, about 20cu of mulch, rip out and clear two reasonable size overgrown gardens, move a heap of old green waste piles to a better area ready for a pile burn next winter, grade the driveway, bring 3 bucket loads of rock from the bottom of the property to the top for garden edges, move fallen trees plus numerous other little things.

The tractor is the perfect size for our property and what we use it for. It's smaller enough to get through the smallest gate we have but big enough to dig some decent holes and carry decent loads. When I was looking at the Kubota I was tempted not to get the 4in1 bucket which would have bought it back to similar value to the Kioti but I am so glad I got it. I use that so much ripping out shrubs etc.

One point of different from the Kubota and Branson was the FEL control position. The Kubota and Branson have a dash mount style sticking out at 45 degrees where as the Kioti has it mount next to your right leg and it feels very natural there.

The thing I love the most is what I've done in the 16 hours I've used it would have taken me months doing manual labour. I love that I can jump on it for an hour or 2 after a day out with the wife and kids and still achieve so much.

I've got nothing negative to say about the tractor as it has performed faultlessly so far. I would like to get a tooth bar for the bucket one day but will have to be custom made as no one here sells them and getting one shipped from the USA to Australia is way to costly. Other than that it's a fantastic little machine.

Cheers,
Steve

I don't think you will regret getting a bigger tractor. I wish mine was bigger, but honestly it does everything I need.

I know exactly what you mean. Ever since I bought my bigger, 25 acre property, the Kubota B2650 has been "calling" me. But I resist! I just can't see adding another $15-$20,000 just to go up from my BX25. I realize that it's an "I want" thing, not an "I need" thing.
