I have a BX2670 with turf tires - rear - 26x12x12.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

It would help to know what you are trying to accomplish and what type of land you have.

Pavement? Concrete? Dirt? Are you worried about marring your driveway? Is you land hilly? Are you skidding logs? Snowblowing? Tilling your garden? Burying ex-wives? Joking of course.

Once you fill in the details I bet you'll get lots of opinions.

Regards and Happy Thanksgiving, Fred

26-12-12 Tire Chains

I recently bought a set of their heaviest Duo Ladder combo with v bar and they are really nice. Lots of choices depending on how hard you work your machine.

It will depend upon where you will be using the chains. If you have any asphalt or concrete - then I would stay away from the V-bar type. V-bar can chew up concrete & asphalt and will provide a fairly rough, cobbie ride. V-bar have a rough enough ride just on gravel driveways too.

However, IMHO, V-bar probably will provide superior traction to any other style. Also, a set of HD V-bar tractor chains will be very heavy and expensive.

I have bought several sets, not just for tractors, at tirechains.com they have an information section that is quite good about what type of chain you should use for any given situation. They also seem to have some pretty good prices as well.

Good luck, I appreciate a good set of chains,

George

i've had great experience with these guys as well. have a look to their application chart here to get started:

Tractor-Tire Chains Recommendations

i run the 2-link spaced smooth (non-v) on the rear of my BX with turf tires - nice smooth ride, great traction for snow removal and they don't tear up my relatively steep paved driveway or concrete barn floors. we get plenty of ice here so chains are a must.

Agreed with what fred said... More details...

That being said, I do all I need to with loaded turfs on a B series. Snow plowing, snow blowing, logging, etc... Obviously 4wd is key too... I like the loaded tires because of the counterweight they add when I have heavy loads in the bucket... I don't have areas of deep mud or super soft ground.

I also have a steep driveway and still get the snow work done regardless of the NH winters...

Steep drive suggests chains would be an asset, and close (dual) cross links if you have turf tires.
Studs could also be considered.
With agg tires you would a woven type design as cross links would simply fall between the low spots.

On my turfs I run dual ice chains on pavement and hilly also tires are loaded.
Since they never slip I never have tell tale chain 'scratches'.

My point was that I haven't needed chains, by having the loaded tire.. This my drive and chains may help, I have never been stuck or not be able to get the job done easily by not having them...
