Looking for hammer drill with non rotation feature

Sounds like you need a laminate trimmer. Pretty much fits smack dab in the middle of that dremel/router gap. Takes standard 1/4" router bits but easily held by one hand if you want but still big enough to grasp with 2

I carve stone relief panels and they are fragile because they can be as thin as 1/2" thick, 16 " by 16". I work with as thick as 2" slabs as well, but in any case I must be very careful not to crack the stone.

Ray66v,

Indiana Limestone. We have quarries and mills all around. Mill cut Odds and ends can be bought for $20/ton. Just a hobby, making dust. Good time take ones thoughts away from work...

I have two rotohammers. They use chisel bits that dont have the splines so they dont rotate the bit. This is the common way to chisel with a rotohammer. Bits are easy to find.

For smaller jobs and if you have a compressor, get an air chisel, but be sure you match the CFM to the chisel. Not the horsepower, the CFM.

No wonder you are using power tools. Nice job.

I can't seem to find a way to keep my back, and neck from becoming a knot when I carve. So, for now, I have given it up.

Ray66v,

Nice work, looks close to a pc I did a while back. If you are in Ohio, Limestone? Do you use air tools? Ever type the Trow and Holden "Bamtan". I'd like to add that to my X-mass list, bit pricey at $250. But it has a 3 cfm, low for air tools
It can be a pain to hunch over your work pc. I made a "lazy Susan" table so I can just spin the pc. Soon I want to build a heavy duty easel so the pc is vertical in front of me while standing. If I can incorporate the lazy Susan and an easel, cats meow!

A small auto body air chisel, does not use a lot of air.

You could run it on low air pressure, or shorten the length of the piston, to make it hit softer if you needed.

The Chinese ones go on sale for almost nothing, why not get one, and experiment with it?

I have not seen a small, hammer only, electric tool.

I have done some stone carving, but not any material hard enough to need power tools.

Ray66,

I have seen these, I know my compressor will run non stop though. Low cost investment though
How about something like this with only a couple different tip needles installed? ... Place the one you want in contact and let the other(s) vibrate unloaded.

SPYDERLK,

That does look promising. Cheep enough too! It does not list the CFM but my compressor would fall into the "intermittent"
I would assume the rods can be replaced/remmoved
