Well,, The woman that was carjacked here yesterday was filling her gasoline tank ..The Thug came up from behind, knocked the nozzle from her hand ,pulled his gin ,and took her car..Don't know if she was on her phone or what..Had she been aware,, he wouldn't have been able to sneak up behind her..

As I taught my children. When you are getting fuel watch around you and stay close to the nozzle. If threaten you have the gas as a weapon. Not many are going to start something when you can spray gas 15ft.
Both my children now grown carry and watch.

Not really a concern since my youngest kid is 18 years old but the safest place to keep a firearm away from kids is to keep in on your person. They can't get it by accident if you have it in a holster on your person.

I can't remember where I've read this or maybe seen an ad but it basically says "two is one, one is none". This refers to carrying a backup gun. There is always a chance a firearm will malfunction no matter how many extra magazines you have. I personally don't carry two but I understand the concept. How many carry more than one firearm?

Good to know that the police are armed to the teeth in your largly rural state. That way they can protect themselvs from the perp or while securing the scene of the crime where all were killed, raped or wounded by the perp weather he used his fists, knife gun crossbow or whatever?

Police have a gun to protect themselves not you. They most of the time are there to collect eveidence, esp in a rural area where a crime may be over 10-30 mins before they even arrive!!!

When seconds count,, Police are minuets to hours away.

Here in the U.S . The courts have ruled,that Police have no duty to protect you..That tells me you need to be prepared to protect yourself

You cannot keep an eye on every person in a gas station while you're pumping gas, fiddling with the credit card, fiddling with the filler cap, keeping and eye on the nozzle, keeping an eye on your two kids in the car, etc.... a person standing on the other side of the pump is only two steps away from you. Heck, I've thought about it many times at gas stations how easy it would be to just walk over and slap the cigarette out of someone idiot's mouth, let alone knock them over and take their car. (smoking at a gas station is a pet peeve, I guess :laughing: ).

So do you recommend being totally obviously? You are right that you can't be watch everyone, but it will certainly increase your chances if you are aware of your surroundings.

You cannot keep an eye on every person in a gas station while you're pumping gas, fiddling with the credit card, fiddling with the filler cap, keeping and eye on the nozzle, keeping an eye on your two kids in the car, etc.... a person standing on the other side of the pump is only two steps away from you. Heck, I've thought about it many times at gas stations how easy it would be to just walk over and slap the cigarette out of someone idiot's mouth, let alone knock them over and take their car. (smoking at a gas station is a pet peeve, I guess :laughing: ).

If you ever see me filling up my tank..Please don't try that with..I'm giving you fair warning.. It won't turn out well for you..I can guarantee ,,no one will slip up on me.I will see you B-4 you get there:thumbsup:

Sure, there are a very few specific people that might have the reaction time to dodge that punch ( like my kid's karate instructor ), or a few people with enough suspicion to back away from or stand off every single person that approaches them, but those folks are few and very far between.

Just like the shooting that just occurred.. Seconds counted, and police were minuets away..People were shot/killed & they are saying,,The shooters got away
