had someone mail me a priority package yesterday ( dec 2 ) . It actually hit the post office counter yesterday before lunch. They used priority ( 2-3 days )

The delivery date on the receipt is tuesday dec 8. we are both in the lower 48...

WTF???

So if it got mailed yesterday what's the problem? ? It should be delivered this week right? ?

The post office delivers Amazon parcels on Sunday. Right now most offices are delivering all parcels on Sunday because of Christmas.

USPS service is good where I live. The personnel are friendly and reliable. And they do delivery priority mail on Sunday year 'round. Maybe we are just lucky. The Seinfeld thing is a cheap shot for entertainment purposes only.
But I'm just a homeowner consumer, not a business.

Cheers,
Mike

I don't know what everyone is talking about, they seem to get junk mail delivered the next day, every day :D

Speaking of junk mail, bulk rates should be a thing of the past, junk mail is clogging the system. I get at least 5 times as much junk mail as my regular mail. I have to wonder what cost burden junk mail is to the country, including associated, distribution, garbage and land fill costs. I use a PO box and the post office has a dumpster in the lobby for junk mail. Like many other people, I heave my junk mail in the dumpster. A recycler comes and gets it, but I have to wonder what the point is and if bulk mail had to pay the rates we all pay, would there even be junk mail? Many people say junk mail lowers the cost of regular mail, but if that was the case, why wouldn't Fedex and UPS deliver junk boxes of junk mail?

Should I mail a letter or package to my neighbor from this location it is trucked to Springfield Mo. then by air to Memphis and trucked to Little Rock and again reloaded to this P.O. and the mail carrier delivers. usually 2 days.
Had breakfast with a mailman and the discussion was mail service he told us the largest customer was UPS and other large shippers. that used postal delivery between towns due to lack of there own drivers.

At this time of year I find mail takes quite a lot longer, that's the reality.

Seems like the USPS takes longer this time of year but UPS and FEDEX move even faster. I had 2 really impressive experiences lately. Part mailed from France on Tuesday arrived at my house Thursday morning and I ordered an Optima battery on Monday and it arrived on Wednesday. Keep in mind I Live in the middle of nowhere and have to drive almost 2 hours to get to a city bigger than 10k. Those UPS boys are impressive. the USPS, not so much.

UPS is actually in the business to make money, so they have to be better, lots better than USPS or what's the point.
