.
I got the heads on my car engine, and all the pushrods and valve train in place and torqued. Trying to figure out a way to get the aluminum intake runners cleaned of the carbon/oil gunk???

Kyle, rifle bore cleaners are excellent at removing carbon deposits, although many would be good at eating aluminium too. It's not my engine, so please feel free to experiment :D

36 and dense fog...going to 56 and sunny once the fog burns off in a few hours.

Plan to get brakes done on my son's car. If time allows, need to get my 4Runner's state inspection...due by end of the month.

35 climbing to 65 today, some showers tonight into tomorrow morning.
I could never say I was as busy as RS, but I did get xmas presents wrapped yesterday, last trip made to Dollar General for kiddy junk from Santa, and the house somewhat organized. I've got some old appliances I'd like you to look at RS, in between your piranha growing activities...

little baby chairs came in for the Christmas party's "men's table". As in three five year old boys. All I need are a deck of cards and some little cigars...

spent a lot of time on the phone getting visits arranged for this weekend. MIL, childhood friends, all good. Heading off tomorrow to Delaware, then NJ, then home on Monday. And I don't intend to go anywhere after that...except maybe they might get that "stupid boat" ;) fixed for me and I can do another sea trial. Engine surveyor called last night with negative news. Oil reports on ancient gen came back loaded with metal, not sure if anyone every changed the oil properly but this isn't a good indication on a diesel engine with 600 hours. Copper, iron and some other metal. At least no antifreeze or salt water...
I figured I'd have to change the gen out or rebuild it anyway; these things do not last 32 years without issues. And certainly with potentially inadequate maintenance.
Two cylinder Onan, real shaker and rattler, a replacement 3 cyl Kubota engine/gen would just purr. And would cost me ten thousand dollars. Uh, try fixing this please....

Am going to try to blow some leaves today, should have dried out a bit. Really soggy, can't drive the tractor anywere without tracking.

got an estimate back for $3500 to drop 90 tons of ABC/crusher run stone all around my new shed and do the leveling.
I said no thank you...way too much money. More folks with stars in their eyes. (Buppies, what's this stuff cost a ton?)
So, I replied, thank you very much, I want 1000 dollars of stone, you dump it, I level it. However much stone that gets me is going to have to do, and I'll
finish with the huge pile of topsoil I have. That's what my tractor and large fireman helper are for.
Not sure how well that went over but hopefully next week I'll get one small truck of 57's(?) for the muddy area, and ABC for the rest.

My right rotator cuff has been screaming for two weeks, not sure how to make that better. Everything is falling apart...maybe arthritis getting into joint, don't know but it even hurts in bed. Have applied some topical painkiller cream I have but that of course is just a passing help. Let's see, if I put the tube of topical painkillers in the hot tub, and then immerse myself, I might not get out...

the joys of getting old are luckily balanced by the joys of life itself.

We had bubble gum cigars, when I was a kid. Guess that would not be politically correct now? :)

now if I had seen them in the dollar store, you bet!
deck of cards, some dice, sucking on those bubble gum cigars,
holding their glasses up, hopefully not spilling the apple cider
now there's a Kodak moment

Poured first cup of coffee. 34ー with mostly clear skies. Heading to 66ー with mix of sun and clouds. Today is a lay back day. Before finishing our trip to Mesa, AZ tomorrow. Today is also closing day on my mothers house. Another reason for staying close to phone access.
Yesterday we drove from Truth or Consequences, to Silver City, NM. Nice mountain trip with road heights over 9,000'. First picture is of a valley where fire hit a couple years ago. Gila National Forest. Second is of the Santa Rita Cooper Mine. Picture shows less than 1/4 of the open mining operation.
