rs, in a round about way, you are just letting us know the things a man has to do to get qualified for a 100+ gallon aquarium. :)

I forgot to mention that my wife and I saw what I believe is a Pileated woodpecker in our front yard's post oak tree. I've seen one only 3 or 4 times in 11 years here. Very big woodpecker. Striking red stripes with dark and white too. One of the most beautiful birds I've ever seen wild in person. Every time I see him, he's too fast for a picture. I would need one of those big white Canon lenses to get a decent pic.

Buckeyefarmer, That wet carpet in your truck might be a blown heater core manifold, or a clogged AC tube.

Rick, your place looks really nice.

RNG, I'm sure you'll have that beemer tweaked to the nth degree.

I got the heads on my car engine, and all the pushrods and valve train in place and torqued. Trying to figure out a way to get the aluminum intake runners cleaned of the carbon/oil gunk???

39.7F and clear @ 01:15 ...

Just woke up, fell asleep after dinner ...

Got everything run thru the dishwasher, except for one last load, before I ran out of detergent. Managed to get rid of three partial bottles dishwasher soap ... two of which someone had used about 3/4 of, then decided they didn't "like" that particular brand ... about 10 years ago ...

Also got the Sunbeam mixer cleaned up and detailed out ... still have to find a screw to replace the one that was missing that holds the little cover for the light bulb socket on, and replace the bulb, which was also MIA.

Took the Rival 4 slice toaster apart and ran all the plastic pieces through the dishwasher, and then blew out the rest of it with compressed air. Only two of the slots heat up ... no obvious breaks in the nichrome wire in the two slots that don't work, and there is a circuit board involved ... so I'm not too hopeful on fixing that. I think we have a two-slice unit here somewhere ... if so, the four-slice job will get dumped.

Next up is the Hamilton Beach Cookbook Blender ... IIRC, there was a shock issue with that ... so I'll have to disassemble it, and find out what is going on there. The blending jar - which is a plastic replacement for the original - isn't in great shape ... plastic is cloudy/cracked and the rubber lid feels like it is going south (is sticky even after washing, is discolored)

Was surprised to find out that parts appear to readily available, including the glass jar/pitchers ... which is kinda impressive for a 40+ year old appliance. Apparently the same part was used on multiple models. Made many a milkshake and malt with it back in my youth :D

Have a bunch of (washed) plastic containers I need to marry up the lids on and put away here in a bit ... counter surfaces in the kitchen are starting to reappear, slowly but surely.

There's still a significant number of things left to do, to really get a fully completed product:

1. Clean exterior of kitchen cabinets, walls, ceiling. Amazing how tenacious airborne cooking grease can be once it settles on surfaces, particularly after any volatile components evaporate. Acetone works pretty well, not so great for some finished surfaces (wood) tho' ... mostly have been using a product The Woman picked up, mebbe at Dollar General, called "Totally Awesome" which is pretty impressive.

2. Pull stove out and clean under/behind it. Also clean out the oven.

3. Clean out the one remaining junk drawer. Probably 50% to 75% of the stuff in there can be stored elsewhere. Most of it likely wound up in there because it was an easy place to toss it.

4. Cut and install shelf/drawer liners in all cabinets and drawers. Have the material, just need to do it.

5. Pick up two "cool white" 8' T-12 bubs and replace the two "warm white" bulbs, so all four bulbs match.

6. Clean and oil the kitchen table and chairs.

7. Clean the windows, inside and out. Ought to be able to get that done this coming weekend when the temp warms up.

8. Wash the floor. This one The Woman will have to do ... she has her very own special way of doing it and it works really well - no water spots or streaks.

If I can get all or most of that done, I should have racked up substantial brownie points.

Whether it's 125 gallons worth remains to be seen ...

1200 sqft to be exact
That doesn't sound too bad ...

Although I have managed to pretty well pack the 896 sq ft of the shop here full of stuff ...

LOL ... could be ... we'll see ... ;)

BTW, I mentioned the 125g tank to her the other day and she pretty much came unglued ... she's "not havin' the @#$%ed living room filled up with fish tanks" ... "you can just move down into the basement and have your @#$%ed aquariums ..."

I did also mention that I was looking at it as an economic opportunity ... so we'll see if that aspect is able to make it past all the emotion and reaction and actually sink in.

Also mentioned that aspect to a friend and his response was that it sounded like a easy money/get-rich-quick scheme ... lol ... yeah, no ...

Clearly, he's never actually bred fish on a commercial basis before ...

Still, given some of the numbers, it might be viable ... and it has a couple of other positive things going for it: 1. stay at home business, 2. is something I have some experience with, and best of all: 3. is something I have an interest in and enjoy ...

Very impressive aren't they ? :D

Reminds me of something prehistoric ...

Every time I see him, he's too fast for a picture. I would need one of those big white Canon lenses to get a decent pic.
The ones we had here would spook pretty easily - especially when they were just outside the picture window in the living room if they detected any motion inside the house.

If ya want to make them regular visitors, grab a hanging cage for suet from TSC (about $1) and some suet cakes - which can be picked up from the discount stores (Dollar General mebbe) for around 60 cents apiece in a ten-pack and stick it out.

I'll bet your kids would get a real kick out of seeing them visit regularly.

Only downside is that with that big beak they can really put the hurt on a suet cake in a hurry ;)

I got the heads on my car engine, and all the pushrods and valve train in place and torqued. Trying to figure out a way to get the aluminum intake runners cleaned of the carbon/oil gunk???
When I replaced the head gasket and had a valve job done on the Sprinter, I took the intake in and had them clean it in a degreasing tank which had circulating fluid which was safe for AL.

Was pretty badly goo'ed up due to the EGR ...

Wasn't all completely bare metal when I got it back, but I'd guess that they got 98% of it.

Good morning. The water level in all the ponds is rising steady, which is good, except I have some willows to remove from the bank of one. Ideally I want to do this without wearing chest waders, so I checked the forecast to see if it's better to make a start this morning or this afternoon. Looks like neither, another windy day coming.

Wngsprd, "Awesome" is not a word I would use for kissing a gator. That kiss is right in line with people who kiss their dog right after their dog has checked out another dog.

There was a story here the other day about a little girl who had kissed a frog. The frog stayed a frog, although she sort of managed to get a wish come true - no school the following week. Just a pity it was brought on by Salmonella
