Reading this makes me realize how lucky I've been. About 5 years ago had a wood splitter attack me. Holding a piece of wood with a fork in it, it cocked and crushed my thumb between the blade and the wood. Flattened my thumb out pretty good, popped the back of my nail out from behind the cuticle. Somehow it grew back though. But the cuticle is further back. Sprained my left ankle last July, then last month sprained the right one. Tough injuries to deal with as a mechanic.

I had a friend that crashed his corvette into a Mooney 201.

Yeah. It was Friday the 13th, too! And we'd all just lost our jobs at the FBO (aircraft service station) we worked for due to bankruptcy from embezzlement and theft. My 18 year old friend got mad, did an angry burnout as he was leaving in his mid 60's Corvette convertible with 327/350 setup, lost control on the road, hopped the grass, shot up onto the ramp and ran the car under the leading edge of the left wing of the Mooney. It slid up his hood and the windshield frame popped it up in the air and over his head. It missed the rear of the car and he shot back across the grass and back onto the road. He stopped about 100 feet away just sitting there looking stunned. He finally put his head down, put it in reverse, and slowly came back. The bummer of the entire thing was this was his family's business, and they had a trusted business partner that was the one that screwed them financially and they lost the business. Anyhow, no one was hurt. He called his insurance man and asked him what he should do. The insurance man's exact words.... "First thing you're going to do is sell that Corvette."

Well, I was riding to Costco to pick up some hearing aids, was driving my new overpowered clean diesel VW, cause I couldn't afford one of them overpriced new trucks, when I decided to stop and loiter at the local diner. Got a stomach ache on the spiral sliced ham. Stay safe everyone.

I've had a few minor things, got my hand caught in a machine when I was 18, 3 broken fingers, it got infected, lots of antibiotics. Lately, I broke a ankle, later had a tumor form on the break, had that done, but the drugs made it pretty much pain free. I got bit by a 70 lb dog a couple weeks ago. That hurt a lot. It isn't the holes being punched in your hand that hurts, it the pressure. Felt like my hand was in a vice. The hand swelled up 2x, hurt for days.
All this is minor compared to most guys. I am a big believer in safety equipment now!
