What is the WORST injury you have ever sustained?

I've had a few minor things, got my hand caught in a machine when I was 18, 3 broken fingers, it got infected, lots of antibiotics. Lately, I broke a ankle, later had a tumor form on the break, had that done, but the drugs made it pretty much pain free. I got bit by a 70 lb dog a couple weeks ago. That hurt a lot. It isn't the holes being punched in your hand that hurts, it the pressure. Felt like my hand was in a vice. The hand swelled up 2x, hurt for days.

All this is minor compared to most guys. I am a big believer in safety equipment now!

In the spirit of Larry Lujack, little snot-nosed Tommy and Animal Stories, I gotta ask.... is the dog gonna be O.K.

Well, I was riding to Costco to pick up some hearing aids, was driving my new overpowered clean diesel VW, cause I couldn't afford one of them overpriced new trucks, when I decided to stop and loiter at the local diner. Got a stomach ache on the spiral sliced ham. Stay safe everyone.

Last fall I was splitting some frozen tar blocks for melting to fix cracks in my driveway. As usual the ram got stuck in a block and as the ram was coming back with the block I grabbed a hold of the block to pull it off. About 2" from the bars that push the log off when it returns I noticed both hands were going to get clipped and I released just in time. I didn't get hurt on that but it was a good reminder for me.

Seems like most wood splitter injuries aren't on the splitting stroke /wedge area where everybody expects the forces to be dangerous, but on the backstroke when a block gets stuck and you repeat the normal action of unstuck ones by trying to pull it off and then getting pinched at the cylinder end.
There should be more education (and dare I say safety warnings/stickers) indicating this specific danger instead of general warnings.
Having the wedge on the ram is good for vertical tilt to split the big blocks, but IMHO it comes with more danger of pinching on the backstroke.

My splitter doesn't have any push blocks at the top. If I get a block stuck I have to manually insert a piece of wood to push it off.

I've often thought that it would be very entertaining to be there at my autopsy. I bet their imaginations aren't half as much fun as my reality.

As a previously discussed topic. A sweet little blond by the initials of LJM, she was high maintenance however. Although years later in hindsight I wonder why even let it bother me.
