Looking at buying a TYM t454

Test drove the jd 4044r today with the 180 loader. I liked the way it drove and the cab layout. The loader picked the front end in the air no problem. The only problem was with the salesman, i told him the options I wanted and was going through trying to tell me why i didn't want them. Like the down pressure option on the 3pt he said a hydraulic top link would do the same thing. That the third fuction for the loader would have to controled by a lever not buttons on the joystick. So we did not get a price from him, waiting to hear from a different dealership.

Then we stopped at the case dealer and test drove the 45c. The cab did not feel as nice and they got rid of the hydro option. You have to switch forward and reverse on the column like a shuttle shift. Knocked it out of gear couple of times test driving it. The other thing was the loader will only lift 2000lbs

Last we stopped at Cabelas and drove the 45. It was a nice tractor kind of loud. The cab was nice and open, had back corner windows that opened. The 3pt levers were kind of hard to get at and move, could have been because it was new. The loader is kind of a pain to take off you have to take to supports that is stored in the front and attach them. The final price they came wup with is 38,500 with the larger loader, 2 rear remotes, and 3 function for the loader. The also give you a $1000 gift card with purchase of a tractor.

Right now I like the JD the best, just waiting to see what kind of price the come up with.

Did you try lifting the front end of the JD using the curl function? The lift arms will do it no problem, but not the curl circuit. That is why no 3rd function diverter for the loader. The loader dump position is always in regen mode and these other things DO NOT work with that type of plumbing. JD even has this in the operator's manual, these other uses do not work with what they are currently selling in the std way that every other tractor does.

Just an FYI, makes no difference to me one way or the other. ;)

I have been looking a replacing my current jd 3320 open station with a larger tractor with a cab

I was looking at the TYM t454 with hydro does anyone have any experience with them or any ideal of a good price.

John Deere wants big money for the same size tractor with a cab.

I like my john deere and I don't know much about TYM

I had a farmall 45 before my JD the only thing I did not like about it was how loud the hydro was.

Or any other ideals for a good cab tractor for the money

Thanks

When Cabelas goes bellyup, I bet you can get a new TYM for cheap.... Cabelas Tractor = TYM

From what I've read, maybe they'll slap "Bass Pro" over the "Cabelas" and keep on.

4 years sgo tbe analysts said Cabelas was failing . . . the stock was 13.50. Today 4 years later . . Cabelas is having companies coming to them wanting partner or acquire Cabelas . . and the stock is 47.15.

Meanwhile operations like Gander have spent years trying to get out of bk status and Dick's has stopped all new projects.

I'd say Cabelas is doing pretty well compared to the competition . . they are altering and adapting just like many successful companies. And Bass Pro isn't an angel investor . . Just a sharp operation looking to get even better.

Keep that belly up concept . . Cabelas just started plans for a 500 million dollar stock repurchase plan.

Well when you buy a tractor from TYM and put your logo on it and paint it green and sell it for 5,000 more then TYM business is good. They sold a tractor when we were there looking at them. I wanted to tell the guy go to TYM dealership and look at them first before he bought it. The saleman said they sell alot of tractors, that is from a salesman though.

So are you saying a Cabelas tractor is alot more expendive than a SIMILARLY equiped TYM tractor from a dealer ?

If so . . give us an example.

If you take the specs from TYM and Cabelas and look at them side by side they are the exactly the same. The layout of the spec sheet is even the same just diffrent colors. The only difference between the two is Cabelas uses Woods for thier loader.

I got a price from Cabelas for a 45lm with cab,108 loader, two rear remotes and 3rd function for $38,500
I got a price from TYM for a T554 (10hp larger) with loader with cab, loader, two rear remotes and 3rd function for $33,700

Interesting. You say they are the same products . . But another poster indicated a matching model in TYM was only available in gear while the Cabelas version is available in HST also.

Did you get prices for the same units? Your above indicated the TYM quote was 10 hp more. Don't mean to be argumentative . . but you're comparing 2 different units it sounds.

Cabelas is not an illogical operation. 5,000 dollars less for a larger but equal tractor is not logical. What are we missing in the story?

I cant remember the exact amounts but the prices I received from cabelas for the rebadged TYM503 was much higher. Now that price was given over the phone but then again so was the price from the TYM dealer. Our local cabelas don't carry the tractor line and I felt the distance to the nearest one that does was a little out of the range I wanted to travel so I never followed up on the cabelas offering but can say that every advertised price for the same model at the closest TYM dealer to me is lower than cabelas advertised prices I see on line.

They have more differences than you think. Cabela's puts in a much better seat. There are a lot of guys who complain about the TYM seat. They also have Titan tires. They also offer some skid plates to guard the fuel tank. They are very similar but not identical. The TYM dealer near me was about $1,000 more than Cabela's 55 hp tractor. I wish the TYM dealer would have better deals. Seems all the good deals are in the Carolinas or Texas. Not here in the North East.
