Yep, me too, no need and it's way to much$$$, but if I did need something to make some repeated cuts, I have (jwmorris) make me one like what he has, and since we're best friend and we both voted for Obama, he probably could make me one for around $1,000.00+or-.

Now that I know you voted for Obama I would make you one for $2000. Ed

Maybe you could call him on your free phone and see if he can have .gov send you one. The POTUS told me in the past "You didn't build that".

I would like to get a torch set up but the tanks are not so easy to get without paying all year for them!. I will still call around and hope I could get a good price I can live with.

The lease on my 'mid sized' tanks are almost $200 a year. I researched different options available in my area but it got so confusing I gave up.

I think I was paying about $50 per annum back in 1967.

Been looking up tracers and found this. Considering DIY cost and time to fabricate, looks like a decent alternative:

Rotten Leonard's Jalopy Shop Plasma Cutter Tracer, Pantograph - - Amazon.com

It is the adjustable speed drive that will provide a constant speed of cut, that makes them work so well.

That thing is just a swinging arm, you can get that from Walmart for $20.

Swift Mount SWIFT240-AP Full Motion Wall Mount for Flat Panel TV's up to 32" - Walmart.com

Dan, that is what I made with the aluminum part of my machine. There is a magnet under the arbor inside the aluminum. Instead of knurling the shaft I just used heat shrink tubing over the shaft for traction.

Really any motor that is slow enough would work, the key for good results for me was to put the arbor holder inside the bearing. This way runout on the motor shaft doesn't have any effect.

Any runout and a straight line becomes a ~~~~~~ in the cut.

No I didn't vote for him, I vote sec. amendment, but I didn't think I'd get such a funny response, that's what I need after working all day, a little humor.
