I was originally looking at the TYM 454 and I wanted it in a hydro but the dealer said they stopped making that model in a hydro. If i wanted a hyro I would have to go to a 554. He said that everything was the same size just a bigger engine. He said TYM did it due to demand and cost.

I did price out the lm55 model at Cabelas it was $41,400 with the same options so it would be $7,700 dollar difference.

If they are not the same then how can the spec sheet be identical and the tractors buttons and linkage. Even the rounded corner windows on the cab are the same. I did see one diffrance the cabelas tractor had thier logo embroidered in the seat.

I am not trying to argue but if someone knows something different about the two please let me know.

That is a big price difference for some tires and a skid plate.

Those prices are for the basic tractors. I got a price for the bigger loader, extra rear remote, 3rd function, and filled tires.

I got a price from the TYM dealer with the same options on the t554.

I also forgot that cabelas has a $1000 gift card with the purchase of a tractor. So a $6700 difference between the two.

Maybe I am missing something but i am just going off the prices I was given by the dealerships.

I know when I've been to a cabelas store that had tractors . . They always had a free loader as part of their pricing.

The link below shows their current pricing... but doesn't show their promo specials with free loaders.

I evaluated the cabelas/tym product for a scut for me because Cabelas is a very sharp and dependsble operator. But the tym product weren't for me.

However cabelas didn't take Tracker boats and motors to the top by being more expensive than Tracker dealers offerings and prices either.

So while I don't care . . If I were considering tym product . . I'd be investigating cabelas net prices and package offerings personally. Point is . . those that started Cabelas don't operate to come in second. If dealers are under bidding Cabelas same product . . . there's a reason to be discovered.

Not sure why you are so baffled by this. It is very common. New Holland sells the identical LS tractors (with their own, weaker loader, and less options than LS) for about 25-30% more than if you bought it from LS. When Bobcat was buying and selling their white Kioti's, they were also 25-30% more expensive. Even Mahindra charges more for their TYM's than TYM does.

Around here currently, the TYM equivalent will cost about 20% more if buying it at Cabela's.

Primary reason is all of your examples are tractor dealers selling tractors. But Cabelas is a much dufferent animal . . They are a retailer.

Why does it make a difference? Simple. A tractor dealer sells a rebadged tractor and that is their sales activity . . sold and done. But Cabelas is trying to create a new market for their normal regular customers. They sell a tractor to them this month and 6 months later a boat or motor or atv or 4 guns or 1000 dollars of clothes and fishing equipment. Customers in cabelas can experience a new market area in tractors . . and Cabelas understands it is going to draw heavy comparisons to other brands start with. THEN .if you overcharge a customer on a tractor . . you lose ALOT MORE in lost future sales on everything else . . . For that customer AND his/her friends too. Cabelas has always understood that. Their customer base is much much much more valuable than a single tractor sale. That would be stupid business and that isn't cabelas method and style.

They are selling a lifestyle. Plain and simple. It's worth more to some, not to others.

Similar to NH, Bobcat, Mahindra, etc... Cabela's is adding in the cost of their name and brand image. They may feel that buying a Cabela's tractor should fetch them a premium because of that.

Buy low, sell high... That's pretty much business 101. If they can get away with it, and if people want an overpriced green TYM, then apparently Cabela's knows how to do business.

If someone wanted a TYM badly enough and didn't have a dealer... But instead had a Cabela's dealer, then I guess that gives them an avenue to get the TYM.
