Good Morning! It's already 65 headed to a high of around 68 today. Slight chance of rain this morning and then clearing up. I think I'll give the vehicles a hand wash and quick coat of wax today. I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop on this weather trend we have been having!

Lots of rain yesterday. Some flooding. Power finally back on, was off 14 hrs.

Seems the weather guessers think the weather is getting ready to change from spring to winter and in a hurry. When the third storm system comes thru next week the atmosphere will change leading to snow and ice for the east. We shall see

If this windy, cold, and snowy front makes its way all the way cross country, the weather guessers will have guessed right, Buppies. Snow on all the hills around the valley, and all the Christmas Eve travelers will need chains on the mountain roads unless they're driving a 4WD with M/S tires. Hold onto your hats!

Good Morning! 39F @ 6:00AM. Cloudy with showers. High 48F. Winds SSE at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of rain 70%.

Hi chance of rain, but only 0.08" accumulation predicted. State wide we're ahead of normal for snow pack for this time of year, but we've got a long way to go if it's going to stay that way through March. But at least it's been cold enough for snow; last year it was so warm it all came down as rain and there was nothing to melt by the time summer came around.

Sutter_Buttes

Nice motorcycle ride yesterday; a loop around the Sutter Buttes south of here. They're an odd group of hills out in the middle of the Central Valley that look like The Lonely Mountain from my back porch. The green grass is just starting to peek through last summer's brown giving everything a bit of a fresh look, and some of the surrounding fields are brilliant green with new growth. Small roads encircle the butte itself, and those who's properties back up to it enjoy nice flat ground and beautiful views. The hills themselves are held in a land trust, and there's no public access except on rare days when docent led hikes are done. The Sutter Buttes were once inside Butte County, but over the years that part was whittled off leaving many to wonder how the county got its name.

Anyway the bike ran great and it's ready for a New Year's trip down south for a camp out with a bunch of buddies. Be nice to get away for a while from this hectic retired life. :D:laughing:

Quick run into town for some groceries, then settle in for a quiet evening. Hope everyone enjoys the day.

Only 1 more sleep to Christmas.

2 more in Texas, we count naps.

Good morning! 56˚ heading to 78˚ foggy.

There was a violation of the laws of nature yesterday when we stopped in at the Dollar General store. All the Christmas items were being taken down and Valentines was going up - two days before Christmas. I should have called 911.

RNG - Looked at the Sutter Buttes article...really interesting.

labhaven - glad you're getting a nice enough day to wax your car/truck. My best friend in high school had come from Syracuse, and had lots of snow stories to tell.

Walking outside feels like walking on a big green sponge, it is so wet...only 2 inches of rain, but this time of year, and on soaked ground, seems to just sit there. The creek is flowing over my bridge at the bottom of the hill again.

My wife and I watched the 'White Christmas' DVD movie last night with Bing Crosby - a tradition for us. At least we saw some snow on the screen, since there was lightning and thunder outside :(.

Heading to the gym (YMCA) since they close early today and all day tomorrow. Wife needs to make one more quick trip to the grocery store to have everything needed for our family Christmas meal so will drop me off. Let's see, did I do enough for her for Christmas????

It has been a busy week, but off today with no major plans other than to keep working on my car. Since it has been sooooo long since I took it apart, it has been a 2 steps forward, 1 step back kind of ordeal. I have the engine in place, I'm having trouble determining which special bolts with an extra threaded stud for ground wires go where on the tranny to engine interface. I find myself stopping to try and find some pictures I took for help often. I just pray that not too many systems give problems after being down for a year....

Hope those teeth problems get better or hold off until the dentist gets back. My dentist is off all next week.

I'd like to extend a warm Merry Christmas to all of you. (and if it is not warm where you are, try to stay warm) I get to help our pastor tonight with communion. I hope the church is packed. It only can hold about 250-300 comfortably. We will be singing a host of Christmas hymns. The 3rd verse of Silent Night pretty much sums it up for me.

Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love's pure light,
Radiant beams from
Thy holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus, Lord, at Thy birth.

Since I don't have much planned today, My wifey put a splash of Kahlua in my coffee. Yum, yum.

Be safe, pray for those in the storms, and give someone you haven't talked to in a while, a call.

Indeed. Especially the part about the Titan I missile base. Ever since I toured a Titan II base near Tuscon many years ago I've dreamed of living in one. Now here's one right in my own back yard! In fact, there's another just north of Chico, CA, but it's not in as good a shape. Maybe I'll do some digging (no pun intended) and see who owns them. Nice concrete roads goin' in, a couple really big concrete pads just beggin' for a tractor shed and house... :scratchchin:
