I see what you mean in your video on this blower. The auger would be better at pushing snow than the currently available blowers (I have a Land Pride). I wonder why they changed the design—maybe to cut cost?
McKee was making those augers before plasma cutters, water jets, or lasers where available. I think they used several large stamping machines which today would remain super expensive. Anyway, to avoid the machine time, and lower manufacturing cost, the augers tend to be made as a stripe of metal.
I read on a Deere forum of a guy who claims the McKee/John Deere/New Idea blowers are as good as everything available on the market. I don't know yet as our warm winter has truly been a very warm winter (off-setting last years super cold winter) and we've had rain, but little snow to try out the McKee and make a video of it working.
