Why are we so willing to spend other peoples money?
Two reasons:
It's fun. (Roy already said that)
It doesn't cost us anything. :D

As to the OP, I feel no need to justify my advice, it is easily ignored as taken. Someone asks for an opinion then expect to get some, don't get upset if you don't like them.

This made me chuckle but only for your wisdom Triple R. We had that Deere something guy here that was a bit prickly much of the time, was getting married which I really hope went well, trashtalked his local firemen and took some serious online bashing back on that. And deserved it, but got upset enough I believe he either left in a huff or was given the three month hook. And then I think came back under another name and again there was unhappiness when advice given wasn't appreciated and not enough attention apparently was being paid to that individual, in their opinion.

I think a smart man gathers a lot of opinions and facts, if one has the time... and then makes a decision
The only exception to this would be the instant recognition of the way it's going to be when your wife is talking to you...

Ain't that the truth though.

After many, many years on this earth I have concluded that advice and opinion are something I often think is not relevant to me, now, never or maybe it will be in the future. For many years, my only tractor was a very well used Ford, MF or case; worked for me and I was relatively happy. Time and circumstances change.

Things I never thought I would want or need are as follows:

1. MFWD
2. FEL
3. Rear remotes
4. Top and Tilt or even hydraulic top-link
5. Pallet Forks
6. Grapple
7. Third function
8. Heavy duty box scraper
9. Cab

I can see what the OP means, and can see the other side as well. If I would have listened to older posts when buying my first tractor, I wouldn't have bought a scut. That would have saved me a few thousand bucks! I did however get to use a smaller machine with HST, learn it's limitations, and was a great introduction for me to tractors. This will help with future decisions in many ways.

I now have a bigger (compared to a TZ24DA) gear shift tractor and love it. However, now I want a older/larger tractor for pulling a baler, and keep the blue CUT for exactly what it's designed for.

If a member posts his opinion, and that includes a tractor that the OP can no way afford, the OP then moves on and gathers the info most retaliative to their situation, and makes a decision. I can't tell you how many times I've been told I need a 75HP tractor for haying! probably won't happen.. but I know I can run a Ford 3000 or even an old H, and be fine for what I'm doing.

All that said, the person seeking help will have more than enough ammo to make a good decision based off what they get from this forum.

i find this thread a tad funny.the ops come here asking qs and saying what they want the tractors todo.so we tell them what would best do the work.most all want cab tractors.the truth is when you add a cab that runs the price up close to $10,000.well some just dont need it and some do.take me we have cab tractors.but i wont buy 1 yet because i dont like not hearing what im doing.that does not mean im cheap.

Don't you think that we often base our responses on what worked for us, and actually try to throw some light on the OP's questions? Plus, we know that whatever we write is just opinion, and no one is actually going out with their checkbook based on our wisdom and advice. At the same time, no doubt a worthwhile bit of information is posted every now and then, giving the OP more to work with in making their decision?

I think we have a tendency to go overboard. I can't tell you how many times somebody asked about a sub-cut to mow their lawn and take care of 8 acres and we had them buying a 60hp tractor and a zero turn before it was over. I believe you can under buy, but you can go overboard. Buy what you need to do 95 percent and rent or hire out the rest.

My favorites are , I bought 100 acres in the rockies and need to clear it and build a road . My craftsman mower is not cutting it . What do you suggest ? My budget is $2000.00

I only want opinions I like.

Adding another zero on the budget. Then we might get somewhere.
