I have seen good sized tractors, medium sized forklifts, bucket trucks, skid steers, man lifts, and rubber tracked excavators driven on the sidewalk. None of which caused immediate damage.

4570 . . you're just talking smack and not logic or sense. In many states city sidewalks are the responsibility of the property owner just as boulevards are. We don't own the sidewalk but we have to keep them cleared of snow and ice and we pay for the repair to them . . . there's no choice to it . . no option. Driving heavy equipment like skid steers on sidewalks will crack and shift the sections. Public sidewalks or private sidewalks in many states cost the individual property owner. Because the damage isn't seen the day you cause the damage does not mean it isn't there and noticeable 30 or 60 days later.
