Diesel fuel off-road vs hwy blends

dye wont hurt. I deal with loggers on a dialy basis. they run equiptment that pushes $300,000 and burns 40-60 gallons a day, no way those manufactures would allow or recomend something that would damage or not let if run effectiently.

In my area the choice in diesel is green or red. You get dye in either.
I add Power Service in the white bottle to get the lube and other benefits. No issues from either color.

Ok, thanks. Off road is easy to still get here in northern pa and as much as I use, I WILL notice the savings. Just seemed like after the dye was in, regens were happening about every 10 hours, while with no dye, regens were about 18 to 20 hours apart. As was said maybe the tractors tasks probably made the difference.

No regen issues with me. My units are all pre-tier 4 smokers. I'll keep it that way too.

also depends on how and if he is in business with them and if he does work them what is his business model?

I have loggers that run all pre emissions stuff. Ones that still build the old ford 9000 or what ever the big trucks are to pull wood, they just keep rebuilding them. Most of them dont move as much wood at the guys that run all new stuff but they still make it.

If were just talking a tractor for around the farm (small or hobby) or around the house i dont see why that would be hard to think that possible? My current tractor is 35 years old. There are diesels that are older than that and being able to buy non emessions stuff into the 00s its fesible that it may last a good bit longer...or not the new stuff is not made like the old, but you can always rebuild the old stuff to keep it around...not the 00s tractors but the 60-80s ones that were still decent.

My point was much deeper than your ability to continually rebuild your machine. There will come a day when the government will ban the use of all pre-emission diesel engines. Then you can use your old equipment as flower planters in the front yard. A reference to a time long gone. :)

Considering the useful life of a properly maintained diesel engine, and the minimal amount of hours most people on here put on their hour meters, I'd say that concern is basically a non concern.

Even me at 750 hours per unit per year, my total life expectancy before rebuild is at least 20 years and probably a lot more because I maintain my units.

Got another 'Red Herring' comment?

I thought I was very clear in my comment. But since I wasn't, let me state again,,,, there will come a day when the government will ban the use of all pre-emission diesel engines.

When that day comes it will matter not how many hours a year we run our units, or what their life expectancy is, or how well we maintain our units.

In the Construction Industry it's already starting. It will eventually reach down to you and I, if we live long enough. Which was where my first comment came from "Depends on how near death you are". No Red Herring intended. :)

Is the red herring on road or off road?:)
