Was sad to hear about Glenn Frey passing...he was a versatile talent...
IMO, the Eagles produced the best R&R after Joe Walsh joined the band...they had a lot of hits that have become classics but just about everything they recorded that got any air time was/is still just "commercial" rock and roll...
As for other music artists passing and although it been over two years...the saddest I've been about an artist (I was fond of) passing was J.J. Cale...even if you've never heard of him you've heard his music and lyrics...
To somber back further..like Buddy Holly who also died in a transportation accident...the world lost two of the best guitar players ever on the days that Duane Allman and Stevie Ray Vaughan were killed...

I was saddened to hear of Glenn's passing, but I have always thought about the Eagles as I do Eric Clapton....... Good stuff, not great stuff. IMO Clapton hasn't done anything worthwhile (recording wise) since Cream..... David Bowie is a much greater musical loss IMHO

T'is true that Slash Pine. Mr. Cale wrote a bunch of stuff that most folks aren't aware of. Same as Mr. Dylan. And going back on topic, sorta..... Mr. Jackson Browne wrote a bunch of the songs that made the Eagles what they were/are???

I no longer listen to the radio, when one of my kids uses any of my vehicles as soon as I get in, my ears are assailed by what sounds like a sack of cats going through a chipper and that's if I'm lucky and it's not on a rap station.:banghead:

With a leap of faith, I get the feeling that many of the members are more or less my vintage (65)? If so, going back to the crazy days of the late sixties and early seventies, no matter what, we had some great music. Certainly much better than what IMHO is being made today. It seems like rock songs try to hard to cover to many themes, country is for those that cannot make it in the rock world, etc, etc.

Anyway, we are barely into the new year and everyday we hear of someone that once was (or perhaps still is)
relavent passing on. RIP

Neither Frey nor Bowie were not really that old either as life seems to run on so much longer these days for many people...a shame.

Eagles music has always been a favorite of mine.
