That's my point. No time to criticize the OP. We have ALL done things we regretted. Anxious to see the outcome of this.

No one is criticizing the OP - YOU made an issue of what I've said- and I actually HAVE experience as a foreign auto shop owner and technician, as well as a tree surgeon, regarding my saw collection. I spoke of the correct way and techniques to do a freeze plug removal - WHAT have you contributed to this discussion- absolutely nothing, from where I sit.
If YOU have regrets for things you've screwed up, good for you.

wow ouch. good luck to op. makes me happier as part of buying my bx-23 about 10 yrs ago part of the purchase agreement was the block heater and alternator upgrade althou didn't get gen back and apx $250 for heater/altern more

Think he said something about still getting things together to do a more detailed inspection of the damage , but was going to be a few days pr week due to being busy.
