To hide your mouse bate from neighbor dogs, simple get some pieces of 3" or 4" PVC. Dump some of the pellets in and work it towards the center. Or, put a cap one one end...can be duct tape or anything.

All mice did with my poison was to move it 50' and hide it. The only thing that worked for me other than the bucket of death was mouse traps. I am trying something new now; oats mixed with dry concrete powder. Hopefully the concrete will kill them.

A mechanic told me what works for him is to spray all the wires with canned oil spray of some sort. I sprayed some on my garden tractor wiring and no mice, but may not have had any anyway.

I will have to try the oil thing on the wires, silicon spay may also keep then from getting brittle?

The oats with concrete powder also sounds like it would kill the mice but not be poison for cats, birds etc. if they happened to eat the mice. We have a few owls and eagles that live really close by, I have wondered what a poisoned rodent would do to them.

Thanks for the tip.

What's the intended use besides pulling trailers? Do you want a FEL. Do you want 4wd? How heavy are the trailers?

Just moving trailers, pulling equipment. I don't really need a FEL a box blade might be nice to grade my gravel driveway. Maybe a rough cut mover like a bush hog etc.

8n would be nice (with the three point and draw bar vs. older 8n without the bottom bar.)
Other options locally might be a case 400, but that is big bigger than I need.

My land is fairly small a little over 9 acres, very flat only about 4 acres of woods, otherwise it's all flat pasture and yard.

The OP mentioned early in the thread that he wanted something that was maneuverable around the yard and house, speaking for myself an 8N is not easily maneuverable. The steering is very heavy even without a FEL. It will give your shoulders one heck of a workout though.

Is a charmers WD any better? I assume tractor of this era without power steering might be a bit stiff. What would be your choice for a old but easy to work on tractor?

Sorry for the double posts and the horrible spelling. IPad autocomplete is trying to "help" unfortunately it is doing its best to ruin my posts.

We just got a good amount of snow. Thus a Backblade or even better a 3 pt. blower might also be nice to have. Would smaller tractors still work ok with a blower as long as your moving slow? Or would you need a big machine to really make it worth the bother?

Unless you have lots of reverse gears, you'll be wanting 40-60 HP to run a rear blower. Most of those older machines only had 1-3 reverse gears, so blowing is not usually a good option. We moved snow for years with an 8N and back blade before we got newer machines. Now I use the 7' blade on my New Holland unless I need the loader to move the banks back, then I use the Kubota.

I'd love a rear blower, but I get by just fine without one for now. Also, unless you have a cab blowing snow is a frigid job.

Also, I responded to your PMs. Something is wrong with the notifications on the site, so it never showed that I had new messages. Same thing might be happening for you, just a heads up.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't have any alerts also. I live in Farmington MN thus river falls isn't that far out. I would need to trailer to my farm property in southern mn. (By Fairmont) . unless I really needed to move allot of snow I think the back blade would be sufficient. Just wondering abut a blower. I have decent walk behind blower and my driveway isn't all that big. Send me some pics. Thanks
