PTO shaft "stub" broke off

I am truly surprised that 40-something pto hp will run what appears to be a 5ft wide forestry mulcher! Very cool.
Any before and after shots?
Care to approximate the cost?

That's Massey power for ya! LOL jk...

I wouldn't want ANY less HP to run that, not even 1 less. I think the gearbox is rated over 100 HP, and I'm sure that a larger tractor would handle it even better.

I'll let Ken address all the details and the cost if he wishes to do so....

I would also like to see some before/after pics.

I would thin it would jump around a bit with no down pressure or anything to resist upward movement other than its weight.

Ok, for anyone interested, KTAC insurance did cover the shaft repair

The total repair would cost $486.80 of which $250 for the deductible. KTAC paid the remaining $236.80.

Sorry guys, as for the mulcher, I'll start a separate thread for that.

My wish for for this thread was to have photos and talk regarding the shaft repair. Unfortunately I was unable to provide photos as I didn't do the repair after all. I just hope in the future if someone reads this, more than likely they'll know they won't have to tear the entire tractor apart to fix it.

I thought they might. KTAC is awfully good insurance. They pay for a lot of things, that others would not.

That was the hope, but until they said yes I was unsure. Especially since they called stating they may not.

I do understand their position being "wearable" but it's not that it was wore out, it was a mistake that broke it.

But all is good now :)
