Kubota BX2230
I'm Larry. I just bought a 2005 Kubota BX-2230D With a FEL, 54" Mower deck and a Front Mount 50" Snow Blower. My fiancé and me and my Mom are buying a place with 15 acres and three different areas with plenty of room for storage of all kinds of stuff Eg. tractors live stock etc. We have about 4 acres to mow and we will be doing some gardening, wood burning and other turf related plans. We'll be in the snow belt and I wanted to be fully prepared for the white stuff! So we definitely got a nice rounded assortment of attachments.
Just out of curiosity what do you all think was a reasonable amount of money to pay for it. It's got 642 hours on it. And it's been stored in a garage from the get go.It's in very good shape. There's some surface rust to take care of and baseline maintenance to establish. I'll also be buying the shop manual too. I'm not afraid to get into some fairly involved services and repairs/Mods.
I'm looking forward to gaining some useful knowledge about my use and maintenance of the tractor. I'm actually quite excited about using it and saving some back straining work.
I would like to know about getting a reasonable set of chains for my AG tires. Looks like they're the original tires too.
Any comments/ advice as to common characteristics would be appreciated.
Thanks all!

Welcome from Va. Tirechains.com is the best place IMO to get chains. Ed

Welcome to the forum, Larry!

I'm going to move your thread over to our buying, pricing and comparisons section to see if we can answer one of those questions. :)

Yep- tire chains.com is the place to start. You'll quickly learn that a form of duo-grip chains is the way to go- something that keeps chains on top of the lugs. In your small size, they will be affordable. You'll want some rear weight, preferably not something that hangs way out and becomes a space problem. Maybe a weight box? Not hard to make for around a $100 in material. I used 2 x 2 angle iron, plywood and stones. Easy to empty, etc.

Consider just telling us what you paid, and the responses will come rolling in. Tractorhouse.com lists lots of others for sale, to get an idea of asking prices/condition. Sounds like yours is perfect!

LED lighting is a great project to start with! Cheap, fun and very useful if the tractor will be used after dark.

Went to the site and got some choices. Then returned to that page and my tire sizes were not listed. I'll try again.

Thanks Varmint. I just thought some estimates would come in. That is time consuming your right. I paid $11,300. I did my home work and out of fifty or so ratings only 2-3 were 2's or 3's. all others were 4.5 to 5. And the life of the tractor comments sold me. Got all the attachments we needed in one fell swoop. Could I have shopped and dug more? Yes but there's no guarantees!

Welcome to TBN and life as a BX owner, I'd just be guessing on the price, I have a 2003 BX2200 with FEL and 60" MMM I wouldn't even consider selling and I've even got another BX a 2008 BX2660.

I have fluid in my rear tires, stabilizers by Hodge, grill guard with trailer hitch, Bro-Tek HST fan guard and wheel spacers, very handy. We don't get much snow down here, so I don't know about chains.

Maintenance is very easy on these machines.
