Yes, the spec sheet is messed up... most likely a misprint. I figure they meant to say 24 amp motor rating.
Take a look at that belt drive and see if yould really like to stick with that.

This is the spec sheet for the equipment, why not follow it?
Electrical:
Power Requirement........................................................................................................... 220V, Single-Phase, 60 Hz
Prewired Voltage.................................................................................................................................................. 220V
Full-Load Current Rating........................................................................................................................................ 25A
Minimum Circuit Size.............................................................................................................................................. 30A
Connection Type....................................................................................................................................... Cord & Plug
Power Cord Included............................................................................................................................................... No
Recommended Power Cord............................................................................... 鉄?Type, 4-Wire, 10 AWG, 300 VAC
Recommended Plug Type................................................................................................................................. L15-30
Switch Type............................................................................................ Control Panel w/Magnetic Switch Protection

Is this for the OP's piece of equipment? I missed where he posted it if it is.

Finding this whole conversation somewhat amusing...regardless of the site/board, when it comes to electricity the board "lights up". OP apparently has the manual for his tool. I would do what they say. I'm sure the manufacturer has "done the math" because of legal/warranty concerns. Can't hurt to oversize the circuit but why? Cost goes up as the size goes up.

YESSSSS!!!!!

But some (notably B&D) do know a LOT more than the equipment manufacturer. :stirthepot:

Maybe the 5hp "spec" is like the advertising for Harbor Freight and other Chinese motors/equipment, as in "develops UP TO 5hp" (given a big enough flywheel).

I don't want to derail a thread, but have one question. I have a 1-1/2 HP table saw and can run on 120 ore 220. Any advantages on running 220? It is 110 right now and works fine.

Will use less voltage.

Will use less voltage.
What?
You can run it off a smaller wire if 220, you won't get lights dimming, so much, when the motor kicks in and you may save abit of $$.

You can use smaller wiring because it will pull half the amperage. But being a 1.5 HP motor, 120 isn't a problem.

It should pull about 15a if 120v and 7.5 a if 240v.

So it will run just fine on a standard 20a 120v circuit. And gives alot better mobility/portability. Just don't want to run a bunch of other crap on the 120circuit or you may deal with breaker trips.

I found the info at this link thought the op had posted but was mistaken. May not be the same machine.

Sorry meant amps

if the motor specs at 14FLA. Minimum ampacity of the cable is 17.5amp. Non delay fuses 45amp, tome delay fuses 25amp or a 30amp breaker.
