Dunno about the HP argument, I downsized (see my sig photo) and the little one does everything I need. Between your two the difference is probably just how fast you can get the project done, maybe that is important to you or maybe not. But ... the 2210 and the other big 2-cylinders make a tiring racket. The smoothness of the 3110 would argue for that one if the price difference is acceptable.

As mentioned I do not recall any owners saying they wished they had less horsepower or torque.

Here's one. Not a 'wish' but I simply found I was never using the YM240 beyond half its ability. The 18 hp Yanmar is working near capacity to do what I was doing before with 24 hp available (but never used). But my circumstances are unique, most of all I need a low profile to go everywhere in the orchard regardless of low branches. I realize this doesn't apply to others.

At any rate I would choose the 3110 if the prices are similar. For one thing its a more modern design, its the beginning of the modern era contrasted to the end of a prior generation.

Don't rule the down size out because I also have some opinions. I have this available to me 55Hp. 3cyl. in the Pic. and it has yet hit the property I live on of 11 acres . And the only reason I've thought to bring it over to this property is the FEL.. But it's so heavily wooded it's not much use because of having the lack of mobility from all the trees. I have never cared to put a FEL. on the YM2000 knowing the capabilities of the JD. and how much more well constructed it was than the YM2000 for a FEL.. And now after purchasing a Rear Scoop that works amazingly well. There will probably be no reason to have to. Unless I clear it. With the cost of having to do that is very highly doubtful. Plus I like the coverage and seclusion of the trees since it has grown in population over the last few yrs.. The JD. is setup and is used on 35acres were that is just way to much for a little Yanmar. But then you have to give a big plus to the Yanmar In Quality and the use of mowers. Esp. in the FM's. which they both have. But 35 is way to much in the amount of Acreage comes into play. Is the noise and vibration of the 2Cyl. troublesome NO! none whats so ever. But over Twice the HP. then there's not much doubt the 3Cyl is nicer. But that much HP difference would be the only case. And honestly now with the rear scoop hands down the little 2Cyl, YM2000 is a lot more useful than the JD5103. And the JD. can handle so much more bigger tasks than the Yanmar can handle. Then again can the JD. Till a Garden as nice as this in the pic, NO!!!

Well guys I got my Yanmar last week, 2210d! I really wanted a 3110d or the 2420d. Unfortunately Fredrick's said they didn't have any 3110d's available & didn't know when they would get on in either! As for the 2420d they had some they were going to start building & could have them done in 6 weeks or so. The only problem was that it was gonna cost an additional $800 or more just to ship it. I had found some other dealers that had these models availale but Fredricks reputation is so good that i didnt want to take a chance & get a lemon. I didn't really want to go much more over my budget, and would be just by purchasing the bigger tractor. So between the larger model and the cost of shipping it would have been $3100 difference. Couldn't justify the $3100 at this time. Stan's Equipment in Minnesota treated me right. Gave me a nice discount & paid in cash so also gave me a discount ontop of that too. I drove 830 miles round trip & only spent $117 in fuel and hotel room, **** of a lot cheaper than $800+. Anyways I'm very pleased & excited about my purchase. I ope & think this 2210d will server my needs. If not I will have to trade up in a year or so & hope I get my money out of it. Any of you guys ever put that power assist kit on your steering for these tractors??? Can't get my pics to load for you guys sorry

I know you'll love it! I think you did the right thing getting a Fredricks real refurb.

Stop by HF and get the yellow (not red) hearing protector muffs for a nice tranquil workday. The two cylinder racket is tiring.

If there's a PS kit available currently I never heard of it.

Pix have to be reduced in filesize to upload, straight from camera won't work. I always reduce to 800 x 600 dimensions. That gives around 200k filesize which downloads fast for dialup users, also anything larger would be shrunk by a laptop to fit its screen anyway. Or is there some other problem?

Which Fremont? 2k miles from our Fremont to Minnesota.

The PS kit is from Fredrick's. They call it a "power assist" not a power steering so Im sure it works a little differently than a traditional power steering unit. As for the ear muffs I will probably use them when on it for a long duration. I live in Fremont Nebraska.
