I thought the same thing!

I once cut up a tree covered with poison ivy. Didn't think about it much because I hadn't had any reaction to poison ivy for the previous 25 years. Prior to cutting it up I was moving rounds by hand with a short sleeve shirt and had cuts all over my forearms. Anyway, long story short - spraying poison ivy directly into your veins is a bad idea! 2 weeks on steroids and my insides stopped itching!

We had a bit of a cold snap. Cold enough to get out and take out another tree that is in the way of my future gravel lane to the back of the barn without rutting everything up. Sadly, this small black walnut wound up as fire wood!

Most of my winter has been too warm (read muddy) to do much in the woods.

Regarding the previous top handle versus pole saw conversation, the only correct answer is both! :D

Lastly, a friend is tempting me with a saw... A Makita 6401 with a Dolmar 7900 head and the builder is offering a 2 yr warrantee all for $500. Should I go for it??? I already have a Dolmar 7900 and love that saw. But it would be nice to have two so that I don't have to change bars all the time. There is a down side... that is my wife probably wont appreciate me spending money on a saw I already have!!!

I will be sure to look more closely at the vines before handling them. Fortunately my friend with the sawmill is not bothered by P.I., and will gladly remove them for me. It is likely that I wouldn't need to handle the logs by hand much regardless. That's where the tractor part comes in!

Talked a friend into buying the other 7900 so that I don't. But if a deal comes along on a 395xp I may have to jump on that. I want something with a higher flowing oiler for my 37"'bar.

If I had a Stihl saw I'm sure I would soon develop CAD. I have a low tolerance for such things.

As promised.... the tractor part of the equation

Slide show style... unloading the big log.

My buddy was as excited as I, even offered to buy them... but not quite enough to make me give up the board feet of lumber! I calculated about 650 BF between two bigger logs, last picture is big log and smallest firewood log.
