Nice job on creating something that works for you!!!!

Awhile back there was a thread on here concerning "what do you carry on your tractor". It turned into quite a discussion with some GREAT ideas!!!!! Of course there were those that said you shouldn't carry anything, go back and get it if you need it......

Everything I carry on my tractor I use. Might not use it today. But I'll need it tomorrow.

I like a scabbard for the saw because the box is always full of other stuff.

I thought about a scabbard...still am. But cost was an issue and most the ones I looked at were for 4 wheelers and started around 70 bucks. I might go that route if I find a less expensive one.

Yeah, I'd struggle paying $70 for a scabbard. I built mine. In the scheme of things though, it's something you'll never wear out so it will last your lifetime and your kid's lifetime if chainsaws are still around!!!

You can make a scabbard out of plywood pretty cheaply and bolt it to your box. I have two built into my box.

I looked into 100 td's idea which was a very good one. The way the box sets though wouldn't give me enough clearance for the tail light. I think I'm going to make a scabbard and put it somewhere. That way I can get a full gas can and a gallon of bar oil in the box with the chains, tools etc.

I'm in Wetzel County also... about 4 miles inland from the Ohio River.

$70 for a saw scabbard? No thanks. I made mine with plywood scraps I had, and drywall screws. The u-bolts to fasten to the ROPS cost $5.

I recently relocated it to the front post of my ROPS cage, had to trim it a bit to clear everything.

Those are all great ideals, but on my tractor, Case DX33, space is at a premium. And like the OP said, everything gets a beating in the FEL. I purchased a CarryAll from TSC and currently in the process of building a box on a pallet to carry my chainsaw , weed eater, fuel, oil and other clearing tools I need to work. Also, I am mounting my 50 gallon sprayer on another pallet. Another use I have for it so far is 55 gallon drums filled with water on pallets to take to field for the horses. Only had it a couple of months, warm weather has just arrived, I am hoping to come up with plenty more uses for it.

PS I would like to thank everyone for all the great ideals and advice I have read on this forum. I am very new to the tractor life, 9 months, I wished I could have afforded to do it when I was young and able. haha
