It's funny that all the things that have been done in the name of curb appeal and marketing, really screw you up in a case like this. Diesel's used to have a mechanical pull knob to shut off the fuel supply. But to make that more "friendly" and car like, they now have a keyswitch and solenoid, (which can fail).
And nobody wants to look at an ugly engine or have an ugly air cleaner sticking out, so everything is encased with plastic and totally inacessible in a hurry. Whether it be fire or something like this. I guess things can have unforesen costs. Plus, plastic burns really, realy good.
