I'm not a big believer in patch jobs but you would be surprised what a small amount of stop leak will cure.

GM pellets work very well also.

Might be a cheap try.

I've had friends that used head sealer on flat heads with some success...

I added an extra ten pounds of torque and reused the new one.

Are the bolts or studs torque to yield in this application? How much over the upper torque limit is 10 lb•ft. that could be a quite a bit of clamp load if they are fine thread. My luck would have been snapping the thing off or pulling the threads out of the block.

I reused a rubber washer (apparently it crushes) on the valve cover of my Suzuki 400 It bottomed the shoulder bolt on the cam holder and striped the threads. Suzuki mentioned that this part wasn't reusable but it was not on the page with the torque specs

Yeah, I was making light of it, but we all should think about what we're doing and what could happen. I was around airplanes for most of my life. For just about every incident I ever saw or heard of, it was almost always pilot error. It would just about come down to his error was getting out of bed that day. That's how crucial the pilot is. Equipment operators sometimes gotta have the same reactions and preventative attitude. Gotta anticipate what's gonna or could happen before it does. It could be too late when it's already happening.

He stated in his first post that he cut off the fuel supply to shut down the motor.

How does one cut off the fuel supply on a tractor? I thought shutting the key off would of done that.
