This, they have a hole in the bottom to let water drain out, it's around 1400 lbs give or take with the extra steel inside it.

Hand tool holders... ahh, a good idea!

Makes sense to have a drain hole at the bottom of the tubes, as water WILL get inside them one way or another; and around Michigan, with water inside the tubes, the water would freeze (in the winter) and possibly/likely damage the concrete weight itself. I doubt the ice would simply push up & out of the tube.

I like the lifting eye/hook also placed in the center of the weight. A short section of chain cemented into the block (4-5 links inside and 4 to 5 chain links exposed to the exterior of the block) would also work well for lifting purposes.

I could also see having a couple of sections of 1/2" pipe or re-rod concreted into and at the rear/top of the the weight block that could secure a lift-off diddy/tool box with a secured lid - the box would likely contain a few small wrenchs/tools, bolts & nuts, length of chain, hitch pins, a pair of gloves, wipe cloth rags, etc.

I think most of these front axle failures are due to heavy load on a paved or no slip surface . Twisting and turning with the front end engaged . The front tends to turn a bit faster resulting in a bind , then a bang .

Argeed....or running a front tire into a tall curb, stump, large rock, etc. This especially gets dicey when going down hill with a heavy load.

Do you find that shovel handles or rakes or whatever stick too far out the bottom? Could catch the ground, or brush in the woods and break a
handle? If I was doing a design like that, I'd probably but some expanded metal or something in the bottom so none of the handle sticks out

Obviously a staged picture, as he could not move the stack of lumber. People do the dumbest things sometimes for a picture. Then complain when they have engine lube problems. About the very heavy counter weights on the small tractors, consider what could happen if something breaks on the hitch. You could wind up like this photo. Except unplanned and you might wind up dead. A little caution is advised, if you need a ridiculous amount of counter weight to use the loader them you are operating beyond the loader and tractor design limits. Its all good until someone gets hurt.
I don't think it is staged picture. I think he was able to lift the stack of lumber off the trailer. Then as he backed up with the load high the tractor tipped over.

Or the load was to much he couldn't lift it off the trailer, slid it back till it came over the side and couldn't hold it
There was a guy in the Mahindra section a while back that did just that (slid 2000 lbs out of the bed of his truck with a sub cut rated to lift 800 lbs). Tractor couldn't hold it, tipped forward damaging his truck, Then blamed the tractor
