This is the reason I no longer give my phone number or email. If they require a phone I give the one to my DSL that is not plugged into a phone. When it's called it just rings on their end.

I can recount several experiences I've had in the past.

My wife wanted a Mazda 3 she picked out at our local dealer some years back. They stuck to their guns at MSRP as did all other Mazda dealers I tried so I knew that part wasn't negotiable. Where we were sticking was on the trade in of our 1 year old Miata we purchased from them. I got $2500 off MSRP when I purchased it and put $3500 down. We owed well under NADA trade in and they didn't even want to give the pay off on it. We were only $500 apart when I dug in my heels and refused to go any further with them. I finally used their tactics and would call periodically to see if they still had the car and I would make the same offer I made originally. The last time I did it was on the final day of the month and they accepted. Here's where you have to watch the end deal. They tried to bump the interest rate 1% which made up the amount they conceded to. I read the contract and slid it back across the table and thanked the guy for wasting our time. He called the manager and with a stroke of the pen it got fixed. In the end the Mazda 3 turned out to be one of the worst cars we ever had and worst buying experience. We will not buy another Mazda, especially from the local dealer.

The last vehicle we bought was a Kia Sorento I traded a Z06 Corvette in on. Drove in the dealer at 3PM on the last day of the month and drove out in a new Sorento at 6. They tried to play a numbers game by marking up the sale and trade to unrealistic figures which confused me. I slid that deal back and told them to give me ACTUAL sales and trade in prices. They tried to come back with a low trade and I said no. That's when the manager called me in the office and put all the figures on screen and he altered the sale price down in $500 increments and the trade up in $500 increments until I said yes. I new I had them going in because I let them run my credit which is 805 and on the last day of the month they wanted 1 more car out the door. I'm not crazy about their marketing approach but the Sorento has been one of the best vehicles we have ever owned and the dealership service is awesome.

We are going to stroll into a Dodge dealer today to look at eco diesels. Looking for a different work truck this summer and have heard good about them from a buddy. Wish us luck

Which to you put the most miles on last year...

For me it was the 40 mpg Corolla... followed by the 1985 Chevrolet Van that gets about 10 mpg...

Same here ......40 mpg Corolla ....followed by the now 20 yr. old Mercedes E-320

The Corolla is just about the perfect urban car... reliable, great mileage and super easy to park and get around.

The last few days I was driving a full size extended cab pickup with 8' bed... there were places I simply couldn't go and forget about parking.

My neighbor makes his living towing a 12,000# 22' tag trailer up and down the state with his 3/4 ton GMC Denali... when he is not towing he and his wife drive a 2 seat Miata and it suits them fine...

This is so true. I have a 2002 F250 crew cab diesel with a 6' bed that I can't get into some parking garages and I don't even like parking at Home Depot in it. It gets used only for things that I have to have a truck for now, my daily driver is a 2007 BMW 335i. It's a lot more fun and and SO much easier to park it. I won't take the truck into town (Houston) unless I'm going to pick something up in it, it's just too stressful.

I simply will leave the truck at home unless I need it...

Don't get me wrong... I enjoy driving it on the highway and like being able to see out... which neither the Corolla or BMW 325iT allow me to see much past the bumper of the guy ahead.

We also have a lot of compact spaces... not sure what the definition is... just know I have to try really had to fit and slide out the door!!!

Why is it little cars are free to park in full size spaces and it upsets some when larger cars park in compact?

I am just the opposite. I would rather drive my 02 GMC Duramax dually than my 14 Impala. I don't try to squeeze in any parking spot with either one so parking isn't an issue. It is easier to get in an out of than the Impala. The truck is nice on long trips but the Impala might be close on that one..

The Bay Area traffic can be brutal and many new shopping areas have reduced the parking requirements....

It's never been fun to parallel park and feed the meters... at least with the Corolla I can zip in and out...

I think we have some of the worst congestion in the country... and San Francisco... good luck trying to find a parking spot with a full size truck... this is why so many double park and accept the ticket.

parking spaces are narrower than in the past . I drive a Ford excursion . Had to go to the grocery store . I found a spot and backed in like I always do . But both of the mini vans parked right on the line on either side of me . I got it in the space with barely enough room to open my door . About 10 minutes later there is an announcement looking for the owner of a black excursion . I go out to the parking lot and this woman in her late 20's is standing by her minivan . " Is this yours ? " And I say yes , did you hit it ? Now with an attitude , " How did you expect me to get into my van since you parked so close ? " So I look at the other side of her van there is a good foot . " Open that door and slide across and back out , I tell her " Now she is pissed . " Move your truck #$$@@^ " Wrong thing to say to me . " Oh by the way I have a dead battery , AAA will be here in an hour , I am going to finish getting food , dont hit my truck " I went back in the store as she was turning the air blue .

Toyota says their Tundra is the widest pu available. I don't know if that's is true but my double cab is certainly long and wide. I refuse to even attempt to use a parking garage. If I need to go to Boston or Providence airports, I take my wife's RAV4.

The spaces in regular parking lots are way too narrow and way too short to fit it also. But the biggest thing that T's me off is the width of the aisles between the rows of parking spaces. If I can squeeze into a spot, there's not enough width in the aisle to swing to get out.

Regardless, the Tundra is the best/most comfortable vehicle I've owned. I drive it everywhere except in parking garages.

My motorhome is another story...........
