Ariens GT18 gearbox seizure

Hello,
The drive on my Ariens GT18 has seized .. completely ..
Does any-one know what the common causes are for this to happen .. there is no loss of oil ..
The Ariens GT18 was found under a hedge where it had been for years .. I rescued it and had the Kohler engine rebuilt .. I tried it out once the engine had been refitted .. then the drive seized ..

Ps ..over the last 7 years I have "rescued" five Ariens .. a 828 , GT14, GT16, GT18, GT20 and the a walk behind mower .. .. which had all been mis-used in England ..

Many years ago my father bought a GT18 new. He had it for many many years and it was used as his lawnmower. The engine finally blew up ( Kohler. ) and it sat for several years before I took it and completely rebuilt it. I then used it for 3-4 years before buying my first Kubota ( BX22 ) The Ariens then went back to my father where he used it until the mother blew again and he bought a BX23. The Ariens is still sitting in his yard today.
