dodge ecodeisel or ford f150 ecoboost

My dad is looking at trucks for work. He was looking at a ecodeisel which was a big horn edition for $52,000. They said that on average you save $2,500 a year on fuel so for him it would be around $5,000 which would pay for over half itself. He don't really want that fancy of a truck so that would drop the price. If rule out dodge ecodeisel we will most likely look to a newer ford. Mostly ruled out chevy because we can not find them comfortable. He can't handle to drive my 2005 duramax unless it's necessary and our buddy that replaced it has a 2012 duramax and it has bad blind spots and ride too much like a car. And the price of them around here are out of budge

So what I'm asking is what do you guys think of the 2. We are also thinking of the newer ford diesel but already have 2 going on 3 diesels

If your talking about a Chevy then yes. That's how we feel. Although they have always towed decent.

Ecoboost all the way. It's an amazing motor and I has more capacity in a v6 than my old 92 f250 with a 460. Technology is amazing.

Only reason we look at them is cause a inspector has one, almost 2 years into it and I think close to 200,000 miles and no problems. But he thinks he lost mpg when he changed rim size to 16. I think he changed tire size too

My current truck is a 16 GMC 1 ton and my last truck was a 15 F-250. Both good trucks. If I was in the market for a half ton today I would look really hard at the Eco diesel.

I would have to go with the eco diesel. If they put one in a wrangler or small jeep truck I will buy one, just don't need a 1500 in addition to my 3/4 ton.

I had a 2011 F150 with the 3.5L ecoboost for three years. I never had any issues with it at all. It would pull anything I could hitch to it with plenty of power. That said, I wasn't really that happy with the way it felt and drove, I kept thinking I should have got the V8. I sold it for a 2014 Ram 3500 to meet my new towing needs. I haven't had a single issue yet with the new emissions crap but it is still pretty new. If I needed another half ton I would definitely get the ecodeisel over the ecoboost. If I got another F150 it would be the V8.
