If your not towing heavy 90% of the time, today's epa diesels are for people that just havn't thought through the economics, or don't care.
But what we are thinking is that the ecodeisel is going to be better. It's designed to get better gas milage and it's not designed as a one ton truck. If you slap a plow on them you are blowingb your warranty and asking problems. If you can get 30+mpg and the saving is going to help pay for the truck vs just getting average and not paying for is our thoughts. My dad is looking at trucks for work. He was looking at a ecodeisel which was a big horn edition for $52,000. They said that on average you save $2,500 a year on fuel so for him it would be around $5,000 which would pay for over half itself. He don't really want that fancy of a truck so that would drop the price. If rule out dodge ecodeisel we will most likely look to a newer ford. Mostly ruled out chevy because we can not find them comfortable. He can't handle to drive my 2005 duramax unless it's necessary and our buddy that replaced it has a 2012 duramax and it has bad blind spots and ride too much like a car. And the price of them around here are out of budge
So what I'm asking is what do you guys think of the 2. We are also thinking of the newer ford diesel but already have 2 going on 3 diesels
I don't think the 5.0 Cummins will get near the MPG of the Eco diesel. I feel ram got it right with the half ton diesel go for mileage. If you need to tow heavy look at the 3/4 and up offerings.I like my diesel Dodge 3500 and have friend with Eco diesel but has the new Titan Cummins equipped diesel truck been considered? Dave Smith Nissan of Spokane | New Nissan dealership in Spokane, WA 99212 They are the largest Dodge dealer in the world ,so they may have them earlier than most dealerships , but it does look like most dealers should have them soon.
Midsized referring to 1/2 ton, or 1/4 ton? The Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon have the 2.8L Duramax.I wish they would sell a mid sized pickup with a little 4 cylinder diesel in the USA as they seem to be popular in other parts of the world.
I had an 07 Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 Mercedes diesel and it was fun to drive. Something like that would be perfect.

Oh wow. From knowing someone that owned one said that he was getting over 30 usually. But for us if we could get mid 20s that's great. We do put a size bigger tire too when we wear out factory size.
