As you said...they should all be that way!!!
Some Kubotas have that...my B3030 was a 30 minute job.
Didn't even have to drain it. Just a "quick swap" of the heater for the plug, and lost maybe a cup of fluid.

Look no piston cooling jets...

Fred

Well- at least there won't be any plugging of the jets going on... Cummins owners who swear by (at) Fram oil filters:laughing:

The cooling jet use is interesting-
wonder how many of the different scut, cut, utility tractors actually utilize them??
That may be a good thread starter- someday

From the standpoint of performance, these are pretty low performance engines. I'm sure they could get a lot more power out of them than they do but at the price of durability or having to add things like cooling jets. I doubt the pistons get anywhere near hot enough to need the cooling jets.

Come on, cool your jets!

Hats off to you Adiredneck! I read the entire thread and kudos to you for handling the situation so well! Myself I'm not so sure, anyway keep up the hard work and update the thread as you progress. Donnie

My good sense of humor is wearing thin. My parts have been on order for 3 weeks. Now I am looking at some more bearings and more waiting and a 4th trip to the machine shop to drop the block back off and a 5th trip to pick it up when complete. I haven't had the time to even look up the new batch of needed parts. I can tell you I will not order them from the dealer.

Gees- that's what was bugging me about the picture, i could see the bores but I couldn't make my brain equate that to a (normal) bottom end...

Thats called a skirted lower and it's common today. To deck it, you locate on the machine table via the bottom of the skirt. Same applies to a line bore and counter bore.

Wonder if Messicks could EXPEDITE parts procurement for your engine

Every time I get a survey from Kubota regarding service work I rate them the lowest possible for parts availability and add to my complaint in the comments. It seems like every part not commonly stocked by the dealer must come from Japan. Kubota does not seem to understand down time as lost income for their customer. Your waiting for 3 weeks for any part on a tractor as new as yours is beyond unacceptable. I always cite my Cat mini-excavator to Kubota as what I consider acceptable. Any part I order from my dealer by 6:00 pm is there at 7:00 am the next day. By the way it's not the machine's fault I get to test Cat's parts service. Operator error abuse having a machine with a blade that will go through anything without getting flat tires invites abuse. Kubota - 11 days for an emergency down due to a broken loader valve control cable on my L5740 is a glaring example. Your failure is unusual enough I wouldn't expect the dealer to carry everything in stock but I would expect Kubota to be able to deliver to your dealer in no more than 3 business days.

I've had great luck with Messick's. And lately Coleman has developed their online parts service. They are close to me and I got a loader pin from them in 2 days.
