Hi guys. OP back again after getting some seat time and shopping around. It looks like the TYM T354HST is the winner. I considered buying used, but a lot of tractors out there don't seem to lose their value even though they look like they've been rode hard and put away wet. For about the same price (maybe $1-2K more) I can get a brand new tractor with a warranty from TYM.
Other pros to the TYM, in no particular order:
1. Best price by far for a 35hp tractor.
2. Very ergonomic layout.
3. Loader specs are the best in this price range.
4. Dealer is very down to earth and took the time to answer all my questions, plus let me dig in the dirt with a shiny new tractor.
5. Rear remote is standard, but dealer recommended the 3rd function for the grapple. The LS dealer was pushing the rear remote (at extra cost) as the way to power the grapple.
6. Implements at dealer cost, and not just at the time of purchase.
Cons:
1. Dealership is 1.5 hours away from my property. This is the biggest con, and I don't have a trailer to tow it back when I have a problem. I need to borrow one.
2. Resale value is questionable. Mitigation: don't sell it.
3. Will dealership be around in 5 years to service it? Mitigation: my friend's a mechanic.
4. Not American made. Are any tractors under $20K, though?
You will now find me on the attachments sub-forum. There's a lot of cool stuff out there.
