How big a tree can you pull? And, it looks like pretty sandy soil....is that correct?

About a 5" tree. The soil is more dirt than sand. I am near a lake and the soil is nearly black.

These trees that I am pulling is some sort of really soft wood. Not sure what they are except in the way.
