I need an AR-15

2) I suppose in the near future you guys will be justifying hunting with laser weapons too but I rather like the image of a hunter getting just one fair shot at prey.

I don't hunt anything but I do like to hit what I aim at and so I've grown fond of my range and windage auto-doping scope. Puts a dot in the scope reticle of where to aim. Awesome.

Please, everyone, an AR-15 is not an Assault Rifle. This is the biggest misnomer and only fuels the anti-gunners sickening arguments. It's especially disgusting to hear it from those anti-gunners who have body guards carrying AR-15's.

AR-15-platform rifles are among the most popular firearms being sold. They are today's modern sporting rifle. The AR in "AR-15" rifle stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. "AR" does NOT stand for "assault rifle" or "automatic rifle."

Well said BUT, there are many out there that refuse to acknowledge known facts. They have there own made up "truths".

What an amazing resemblance to the M16. Wow.

Some toy guns look realistic too, but they are far from it.

Our state is pretty liberal with a 10 round limitation, but that was in effect so the old .303 British rifle that held 10 rounds could be used for deer hunting.

Hey, hey, hey, let's go easy with that "old" phrase!

I have killed deer with the "old" .303 British. Worked very well, and I had $100 in the rifle. I did slick it up some later with a new stock, scope and mount and I cut off the old front sight and some of the barrel and recrowned it. It looked better, but did not shoot any better. About a 2 inch group at 100 yards. But it was "minute of deer" no problem.:)

Because they are a beautiful design, easily customized, a joy to shoot, the easiest to clean and service of any rifle, far easier than ANY commercial rifle with no military roots. Did I mention they are absolutely a hoot to shoot?
Boy second that, except its louder than you'd think, it is an absolute blast to blast away with

Similar platform, totally different uses...sort of like cars and tractors.

Is this the NRA orthodoxy now? Pretend the M16 and AR15 are as different as cars and tractors??? More like one is a Camaro and the other a Camaro SS if you ask me. One has full auto fire and the other is semi automatic. Don't the rest of the parts essentially interchange??

This is what I got off Field and Stream:

M16 is military version - semi-auto or full-auto when first introduced in mid 1960's. Later another selector position was included for the 3 shot burst.

AR15 is civilian version that is semi-auto only.

Sounds like they are a bit more closely related than a Kubota and a Chevy.

Many of the parts won't interchange. Bolt carriers, fire control group etc. But yes they are relatives. But without select fire, they are not assault rifles, but by definition they must have select fire to be an assault rifle. . The AR15 doesn't so it isn't. The AR15 is the same in function as all other commercial semi-auto rifles that have been made for well over 100 years.

Plus they typically have threaded barrels opening up even more options.... Don't prefer the noise.
Man I love our freedom!

1) I met Davy Crockett at the movies when I was a kid. Cool dude. Great hat.
2) I suppose in the near future you guys will be justifying hunting with laser weapons too but I rather like the image of a hunter getting just one fair shot at prey. Honestly I prefer bow hunting (and permit it on my property) The prey haven't changed, why do hunters need the latest and greatest technology rather than just their skill and wits?

I suppose you also make those that bow hunt on your property use bows /arrows just like they used back in Davy Crockett 's days.. If not, then you are allowing bow hunters (on your property) to use the latest ,and greatest technology in bows ,& arrows to kill prey that have the same skills as they had back in Crockett's days.
You should limit those hunters to the same technology as was used back then..
