Good luck WW. Don't forget: home is where the tractor is. The house is secondary in my head.

I think my dealer quoted around 180 at the time for RimGuard.

You might wanna re read your manuals before you have the rimguard loaded in. The manual for my loader says not to add tire ballast if you have a backhoe on the tractor. The hoe alone is supposed to be enough ballast. However my dealer added water to my tires even though it came with the hoe. I guess we can get away with water out here as it's not quite so cold.
BTW filling with water was free from the dealer as was a bucket hook and shackle, just part of what they do along with free delivery.

Because of total weight on the axles? Water alone or with antifreeze? I thought water was bad because it will eventually corrode the wheel rims...

Only if air gets in someplace to start the oxidation process. You can also use tubes if you wanted. I had cal/chl in mine for 28 years and it did rot the rim in one spot near the valve stem. A weld patch and re-drill fixed that in short order. I also painted the inside of the rim with some bridge paint and then Chassis Guarded that and then pumped the calcium back in new tubes.

If you are going to keep the hoe on most of the time or going to cut grass with it, I'd see how I'd fair without the extra load in the tires. I'd also go with a 3 pt weight box before I'd do tire loading if indeed you would cut the lawn with it..Only thing with a box is that it would make it difficult to mount another 3 pt implement such as your BB. A removable ballast such as a 3 pt ballast box would make the tractor easier on the lawn. It mostly depends on what the bulk of the tractors job will be.

loaded tires do not put weight on the axle.

The reason not to but fluid in the fronts is that you make the front tires in elastic, as ther is almost no air volume. ok to foam the fronts or ad suitcase weights, but making them hard as a rock is tough on the front axle.

I guess it's just total load. Liquid ballast doesn't bother the tires or axles so much but it is additional strain on the drivetrain, chassis etc. Plus you'll be burning fuel to move weight around that you don't really need, simple physics dictates that much.

The dealer put water in mine but it doesn't get all that cold here so you can get away with water alone. Where it gets cold you need to use something else like the beet juice I'm thinking of taking the water out of mine since I'll have the hoe mounted most of the time. I'll likely take it off in winter to move snow around but then I could use a ballast box for ballast. I won't need the 3pt as I'll be using the FEL to push snow off the driveway.
