I sent my Subaru WRX to a specialist tuner for some engine work. The engine is bolted to the transmission with several different length bolts. When they removed it, they found the shop had put some of the short fasteners in "long" holes, and cut down some of the long bolts to fit in the "short" holes. Meaning it was more work to do it wrong than to do it right......

He probably couldn't figure out why those long bolts wouldn't go back in :confused3: hey! Just cut em off. That will fix it.:)

He's standing there with 8 holes and 8 bolts. He knows the bolts came from those holes. The shop has the factory service manual.

They may have the manual but that doesn't mean he can read it. Not with what our schools are turning out these days.

Probably not the complaint to ever think of but it happens in my area for some stupid reason story. A few years ago we needed to replace our electric water heater due to build up from city water system and the fact it was not able to heat water any longer. We went to local lowes home improvement store for new water heater and made surenit was right size to fit in water closet- yes it has a door on it for real. So it has a simple 3 wires to install the electric wires to and we can do our own plumbing of cold into tank and hot to go out of tank. Problem is we had just installed like 2 weeks before our local neighbors water heater also from local lowes store as well. For some reason the local health department has to come out and inspect the water heater to make sure that it is properly installed for the nominal fee of $50. Now as i said we can do the basic plumbing ourselves and as for the electric part. We had a friend that does electric work for a rather large and well known in town contractor group. He did the simple black to black white to white and ground to ground wire setup and for about 2 weeks the health department wanted to come out and inspect the heater. Reason why they found out about it. Lowes turned our info over to them for the inspection. Why did i mention my neighbor you wonder now. They never got a call from the health inspector to check theirs ever which is why when we ever have to replace it our information will not be given out as lowes just loves to ask for a number and address for warranty work. Not hardly as we can fill out a simple form to mail it in to companies for warranty work. Needless to say lowes will no longer be getting our business for home appliances due to unneeded inspectors for some of the most stupid things to be checked. What could be next to be inspected. Last. We cook with propane in the small tanks and have a local company come out to exchange tanks and do repairs as needed on the line that at most amounts to 3 feet of tubing going from tanks to stove. Their idea of pressure checks is simply soapy water on all connections as done with propane heaters neighbor uses to heat with and cook also with same type propane tanks we use. Their heater uses the big 500 gallon tank as well and i have yet to hear of a pressure gauge to check connections when it was installed.

The reason that is done is to check the entire system for leaks. Its also often done with plumbing systems (water). Fill it to X PSI, wait 48 hours and see if it is still at X PSI.
If not, you have a leak (but no water mess to deal with).

Will ask neighbor if they used a gage to check it. Otherwise they used soapy water
