Tractor
Massey Ferguson GC1705, John Deere STX46
Would anyone have an idea what this might be worth and whether or not a Massey GC1705 could pull it?

GC1705: TractorData.com Massey Ferguson GC1705 tractor information

TractorData.com specs GC1705 ground clearance at 6.7". Is this correct? If 6.7" is correct, you cannot use a moldboard plow, as the furrows in which the right tires run will vary between 5" and 7" with a 12" plow, so you will be plowing with the front of the tractor as well as the plow, impacting with hard earth everything part of the tractor undercarriage.

Also, you need rear tires no wider than 12", preferably no wider than 11", to fit in the plow furrow. Turf tires, usually 16" wide, will not work with a 12" plow.

Your better alternative would be a 48" PTO powered roto-tiller.

I bought a Leinbach 12 " single bottom plow new back 2002 to use with my JD 4100. Still have it too. It cost less than $300 then. They seem to retail for new for considerably more now. When I did a name search the EA web link came up

It worked out good for the most part but I struggled using it in less then optimum conditions breaking over new ground at my Maine farm. (read heavy clay soil) Made me wish I had the narrow R1 instead of R4 tires. Plow had no coulter wheel attachment either,

If that Massy GC 1705 being a subcompact it definitely would much be too low.

Yea, I've run into that problem with other attachments...

As for the value of it, the Leinbach 14" plow sells for $299 new at Agrisupply. Figure about 50% depreciation (typical for older, used attachments) and that would put the value around $150. If you can get it for that or less, it's a decent deal, assuming your tractor is capable of pulling it.

How does one measure the size of the moldboard? Thank you.

Measure the share (bolt on cutting edge across across the bottom). 12", 14", or 16" are most common.
